How common are dead pixels on iPad Pros?

Four years since I had a new iPad, coming from an iPad 2, to a launch day iPad Air 2, and now to an iPad Pro 11. I was SO excited to open it today, to start the setup and and actually hold a beautiful display in hand, not just in a store! And then I notice a small cluster of dead pixels on the top of the display during setup, a few mm under the camera. You can clearly see them at all times as they're black, no matter the color of the background.

So, is this common with new iPads in general, or are Pros more susceptible to this?

Zero dead pixels here zero uneven back light or flash lighting. No bending, I lucked out.
My Unit was probably QC tested and calibrated to be this flawless only 1 in 1,000 are.
Day 1 unit Serial number starts with DMP
Flawless.

Same here mine was bought at a Miami Apple store. I really wouldn’t buy an Apple device if it wasn’t directly through the Apple store itself unless I had a tone of Best Buy credit or giftcards. Or if needed through a cell carrier like Verizon or At&t for the Free financing.

One thing I'm glad to have read is the holiday return window for Elite members is ten weeks, up until mid February. I'll use this new iPad for a few days and see if the dead spot fixes itself.

As soon as I turned the IPP11 on for the first time, it immediately caught my attention. It's a black dot on a white screen.

I described it to a friend: it's like a mole on someone's face that you don't want to look at yet it still keeps drawing your attention.

I have already return 2 ipad pro 11" because of 1-2 dead pixel on the screen. Waiting for the new replacement currently.

My previous ipad pro 10.5" because of touch issue had to be replacement under warranty had swap 5 times to get a 0 dead pixel unit.

i dont see a dead pixel spot fixing itself... i would just do a swap

unfortunate! cause i know you got the best buy PM / drove out to MC for theirs.. but a direct swap should be easy since youre over the hump of getting price approved

I definitely would, you're still paying good money for it even with the sale

this is why even though I have BB gift cards, and a BB close by within PM distance of Microcenter, I dont wanna play the swap game. Not worth my time or even saved money... plus i'll use the BB gift cards eventually

go to the apple store and look at a few demo units and then decide (thats what i would do)

2 Pro 2018 12.9, both have 2 defect subpixels each

In the year 2000, sellers said that 4 dead pixels is the norm. If more, defective, and must be replaced. But I always chose matrices without dead pixels even then.

Return to the store, or go to the service center.

I had one with it and it’s just obvious if it has it...if there’s a whiteish background it’ll show itself.

Attached a photo of my IPP11 screen.

Since the holidays have an extended return policy, glass screen protectors are still wonky, and good cases aren’t out yet, I’ll use this one for a little while and exchange at a later time.

Contrary to Macs, I almost never had an iOS device with dead pixels apart from one pixel on my old iPhone 7. Having said that, I had dead pixels on all my MacBooks.

I'm not sure how to answer this... by all means I don't mean any offense, I would say it's common sense.

Look at the two photos attached on this page. You will see a black dot on a white background. I immediately noticed it in the first seconds of turning my brand new IPP11 on, there was a black dot on the white background setup screen. At first I thought it was a spec of dust, and when I wiped it, it would not go away. Hence, dead pixels.
