What is the best way to spot dead pixels?

Use an all white screen, and look at the entire screen. Then use an all black screen, and look for differently colored dots. Then try the other primary colors. My IPP12 has a bright blue pixel in the lower left about a half inch above the bottom, and an inch from the side. Bright blue. Like what was said before, it's like a mole on the face of someone you are talking to. Yikes...

I'll have to find some images to test the screen better. Now that there is one, there could be others. Dang...

You can always try swapping it out. Most iPads I've ever had have had a dead pixel or two. I'm in the habit now of buying at least two and returning the one(s) with the worst screen(s).

While the thread is a bit older I cannot remember having dead pixels on my iPads ever. Macs I think one or two though.

Does Apple have some sort of dead pixel policy?
I cant recall if any of my devices ever came with dead pixels, perhaps one, Ive read about such things, but never noticed IRL.

Which iPad Pro is it? 2018 or 2020?

What I found is probably better answered with 'It depends'...

Some devices, the dead pixel count is '1'. Other devices, the dead pixel count is 5, or more. Apparently the iPhone has a 'zero tolerance' policy. One dead pixel is enough, and you get a new screen. With the iPad? Well, depending on the model, the number could be 1, it could be 'less than 5', and it could be 'more than 5 in the same area'. I'll take my iPad to the local Apple Store, and see what they say. It's engraved, so I'll likely end up with an iPad uncustomized. (Boo)

But like I've said before, I have never had a single dead pixel in any of the Apple products I've ever owned. Not on any of the iPhones, iPads, iPods, or iMacs, EVER. It's very disappointing to have one on my beautiful iPad Pro. I'm sad...
