Just like iPod was considered a bad name (and product for that matter) in a couple of years iPad will become part of the lexicon.

A couple of years? By xmas, people will be calling all tablets iPads.

The way I see it, a slightly controversial name just gets people talking about it. all these jokes across the net are doing is making people aware of the product.

any publicity is good publicity these days.

Ok they call it the iPad. So people don't like the name the lack of flash the lack of multitasking and so on. Well if you don't like it why the hell you make such an big deal about it all over the net. Leave it alone and find something better. Or yet if you want the functionality of your macbookpro in a small tablet keep waiting or pay a fortune to have it converted. The iPad serves its purpose and does what it was design to do and more.

Like it or not the name is making people talk and if you ask me Apple did a great job. What do companies want most about there products for the m to be used and for people to talk about them Well everyone is talking and I am sure many of you will also use. Great job Apple!

The name is the least of this product's problems. Come on, Apple blew it. At least with the first generation.

I'm having flashbacks to when Nintendo announced the name of their next console is going to be "Wii." Everyone freaked out, everyone talked about it, and the Wii ended up getting far more attention than its competitors. And look how that turned out.

Apple is not stupid. They know "pad" has more than one definition. They stuck with the name for a reason.

iMac
iPhone - sounds like a toy phone for toddlers

Even Macintosh or Mac itself is a horrible name for a computer.

One of the biggest tech companies is called Google for christ sakes!
