Money has a really strong smell, at least to me. I used to work as a bank teller. I can just imagine how easy it must be for dogs to sniff it out.back when I was young and stupid(well.... not young anymore, but still a little stupid?), I once shipped a box to a friend and put $500 cash hidden in a typewriter ribbon case(yes, it was a long time ago). I owned him the money. Back then, there was no internet or smartphones to send people money easily. I didn't want to pay for a money order or Western Union(yes, I did say that I was stupid). Fortunately, UPS delivered the box to my friend up in Michigan just fine. Fast forward to last year.... I was surprised when I was standing at baggage claims after getting off a flight from Europe back to the US... a customs(CBP?) officer came up and had a tiny cute beagle smell my bags.... he said that the dog smelled CASH in my bag and asked how much money I was carrying(only a couple hundred). I was amazed that they had trained dogs that can smell out cash!!!

Yes. but what do you get THAT delivered intoI'm so tempted to try this:

They can not only sniff out US currency, but most of the major currencies of the world! There are also customs dogs who are trained to sniff out food and plant materials in luggage. Can you imagine how complicated that must be?
Honestly, dog noses are almost miraculous.

this morning, UPS left the iPhone 14 Pro Max at my front door and left.... the box didn't say signature required at all. (originally ordered from Apple.com 3 weeks ago)
when I looked at my doorbell video later, the UPS driver said "hey, Mr. ----------, here's your iPhone", put it on the doormat and left...
I guess he must have delivered so many of these packages to be able to tell instantly that they were iPhones inside? The box certainly had no indication that it contained the iPhone.. .or any other phone. Or are they secret codes on the shipping label that they can identify?
I’m so sorry for your loss. I lost my dad around the same time. He went into the hospital a couple of days before Christmas and passed away there a month later. I’m STILL slowly working through my childhood home, which I discovered has some serious mold right in the room I most wanted to go through (my dad’s workshop where I spent so much time with him).I could have used a money-sniffing dog when my father passed away last Christmas. He stashed money all over the house. We found it in the most unlikely places. 11 different currencies(he travelled a lot). It took us almost a week before we were confident that we didn't leave any.(just before we sold the house) At last count, we found over $9000 in cash(again 11 different currencies), plus over 50 pounds of euro, British, and other foreign coins. He would bring back the foreign coins after his vacations over the years. The paper money were easily exchanged at the local banks... but the coins, well, nobody would take them. We even found money in the most unlikely places: empty iPhone boxes that he collected over the years.

I now have full charge of my mom’s care, so it’s all rather challenging to juggle on top of what we were doing for my widowed father-in-law. I guess it will get done when it gets done. I’m glad that you were able to recover the money. It all sounded like a rather stressful treasure hunt.
I prefer UPS as they almost always deliver to businesses in the morning/ early afternoon and private homes after dinner whereas FedEx will to deliver to homes during working hours. My 14 came FedEx but I was off that day and was home to sign for it!I’ve had nothing but good experiences with UPS.
FedEX is the complete opposite. Especially FedEx Express. 🤬

Where I live the UPS drivers route is the same area everyday. I must be at the end because my UPS guy always comes around 6pm. He said he would never be in this area in the morning or right after lunch. He said he's in my area in the evening..doesn't that depend on where your house is situated on the UPS driver's route?![]()

In our area I honestly believe UPS makes a conscious effort to deliver business deliveries during "business hours" and then reload the trucks for the afternoon shift to deliver to private homes.doesn't that depend on where your house is situated on the UPS driver's route?![]()
UPS does not generally reload trucks during the day, but yes, they do prioritize business delivery and pickup to be sure they get there when the business is actually open.In our area I honestly believe UPS makes a conscious effort to deliver business deliveries during "business hours" and then reload the trucks for the afternoon shift to deliver to private homes.
