I would like to turn off the news section comletely.

In iOS 10.0.2 you swipe from left to right scroll to the bottom and hit edit, then hit the red minus sign next to news and hit the remove button on the far right.

Whenever I swipe left on the home screen where it displays search, Siri suggestions, nearby, and news, almost all of the news displayed is about politics, which is rather not see. I would rather customize it to display sports news rather than have Apple force feed me biased articles that I really don't care about anyway. I have changed the sources in the actual news app, but all the updates shown when I swipe left on the home screen are from CNN and The New York Times. How do I change this?

Swipe right- scroll down to bottom- click edit-click the red button beside news- click remove- THEN you Must add another widget in its place below.

You can select your news sources on the News app but currently it's only available in a few countries. You can however use the News app by going to: Settings>General >Language & Regions and select US or UK (and I believe Australia also works). Your screen will go black for a few seconds while it resets, then you can choose your original language. The News app will appear on your home screen and you can use it to personalize options, however it does reset your default regional settings to the country you select (monetary units etc.) and when you revert your settings back to your own country you'll lose the app and its settings.

You can actually download a particular news app with the content you prefer and add it as a widget and delete the common news widget.

I browse through the news daily, I click on 1 or 2 a day that might spark my interest but for the most part the articles are not of my interests.

But.. Today for the first time I clicked on a news story and when it brought me to the Globe and Mail page it required me to subscribe to their Premium service in order to view it. Seems to me Apple are selling this news space which would be why they are not allowing us to customize the news source. Hmmm
Same with me. Hate Globe and Mail

This only gives a thumbs down to "news like this". I'm sick of these west coast tech companies' fascist need to shove progressive (socialist) news down everyone’s throats. Washington Post, New York Times, CNN, etc., are all corrupted publications...and some people (sheep) wonder why Trump was elected? Welcome to 1984!
