Go OP! I knew what you were asking. And I was asking myself the same thing. Maybe something like "what additional utility are you finding in your iPad in addition to your iPhone.."

I'm going to hold off a little bit more for my wife's iPhone 4 purchase. After that purchase I'm going to see if there are the same instances where I'm going "Hmmm, I think an iPad would be more effective/better at X".

We all have our own decision processes, and if the $'s were coming in at a rate they were a couple years ago I'd probably be saying "just go get one" but I'm in a position where I need to think a little more about purchases like this..

Good luck!

I think if you travel a lot an iPad makes sense. If you want to read books a lot, an iPad makes sense. If you want to do things that are impossible on an iPhone (such as 4 player games where everyone is using the screen at the same time) then an iPad makes sense. (That last use is great for parties!)

So, it all just depends where you are in life and how you use things.

Ooooh... a bit off-topic, but... are you talking about something like Scrabble or Uno (a pass-around) or an actual four-players-at-the-same-time-on-the-screen? Some examples please! :p

I don't think it's a case of needing to justify one if you have the other. They are different devices for different purposes.

I use my iPhone when I am out and about. It's small and handy and with 3G is just what I need when I am mobile (and it's light - I hate lugging gear around if I can avoid it). Oh yeah, it makes 'phone calls too :)

I use my iPad at home when I am on the couch, or taking notes at work in meetings, or travelling and I want to read or watch a movie. The bigger screen makes it a pleasure to use for this stuff rather than using an iPhone.

I use my Mac at home a lot less now, and I decided not to buy a laptop as the iPad does a lot of what I would use it for (and it's a lot lighter).

You think it's worth buying an iPad if I already have an iPhone? I really want one for viewing netflix/watching MLB and NBA games at scho
that i used to watch on my laptop. So, do you think it's worth it if you already have an iPhone?

If you have to justify it, you likely should NOT buy it!

You CAN live without it but I am enjoying mine!:)

Multi-pong is a 1 - 4 player at the same time game.

I use them for completely different things. My iPhone is for music, and for on the go Internet access. My iPad replaced 90% of what I did with a laptop previously. My husband replaced about 60% of his laptop usage with his iPad.

As others said, it all depends on what you plan to use it for.

I'm only using my MBP to code for my iToys. :D Everything else gets done on my iPad now.

I am amazed at my reduction in use of my iPhone since I purchased an iPad. Websurfing, reading, games (wasting time on airplanes) all have shifted to the larger screen. Also amazed how much I like reading books on this. The page animation is actually a little addicting--I know it's a gimic, but it's a gimic I really like!

For me the question is should I reduce the data package on my iPhone!

Even at home, unless I am going to do a lot of typing, I pick up the iPad instead of my MacBook ir iPhone.
