Just a sec, first things first :) Right ive synced with gmail and i see my contacts. Those contacts, where are they located? Are they on my phone or not? If i cut down wi-fi (that how i got internet, dont have mobile networking) will they be lost?
Currently your contacts are on both the gmail server and your phone. If you turn off wifi, your contacts will still be on both the servers and your phone. If you disable Contacts in your gmail settings, they will be deleted from your phone, but will still reside on the servers.

If you add a contact while wifi is disconnected, the contact will be on your phone, but will not sync with the gmail servers until you connect to wifi again.

I think you better off having somebody else doing it for you. At least lowering your risk of losing your data. Learn at the same time and you can do it by yourself next time. Honest advice from me.

Well, technically speaking they are in the cloud, Google's cloud to be more specific. Or are you asking if you could move them from Google to Apple (basically to iCloud)? Any particular reason for that, out of curiosity?

Yeah your correct, i mean the iCloud. The reason of the transfer is just to be "all" in Apple now that i made the change :)

The way I'd do it is using a browser go to Google/Gmail and export my contacts from there and then go to iCloud and import them there (then on the phone you can select to get your contacts from iCloud and that should pull them from there).

Read my post at the top of this page about exporting/importing contacts they the browser. It's the easiest/quickest way to do it.

Where is the option to Export as VCard format?

Do you not want to have your contacts in iCloud? I sync mine with iCloud. That way if I have to set my phone back up after a restore or something, all my contacts get restored automatically.

Here's what I did to transfer them to iCloud:

-signed into gmail on my browser

-go to contacts

-select all my contacts

-export as vCard format

-sign into iCloud on my browser

-go to contacts

-click the gear icon on bottom left and select "import vCard"

-all my contacts have just been imported

-on your iOS device, go to Settings>iCloud and enable contacts

-all your contacts will be downloaded (sync'd) to your iOS device

Easy and fast.
