Anyway, between these two carriers, would I be unhappy that I make a switch as far as coverage? Or between these two what carrier is better?

Depends on where you live, one may be better than the other, but as a whole Verizon has the larger coverage area.

Also, Verizon costs too much money. I am an inpatient person to wait until my contract ends. Who could I trade in my Verizon iPhone with to get an unlocked iPhone to activate on AT&T?
 
Honestly, the demand for CDMA phones is well below the demand for GSM phones.
You can see that reflected in the re-sale price difference between GSM & CDMA.

Too many rush into buying the CDMA because they are cheaper than GSM, then discover they are a poor choice.

You're not going to be paying much less on AT&T than you are on verizon, both of them have expensive plans. But if you really want to switch then try putting an ad on craigslist to see if anyone wants to trade.
