How do ignore annoying iPad updates?

I just reconfigureated my airdrop from iPad to Mac mini hopefully for good, were that works now on even numbered hours. That took me 15 minutes of creative time, frustration at Apple and just disappointment.
While troubleshooting, I just kept telling myself to stop Apple stuff, everything work, so STOP.
Just stop breaking my pattern and macs!

Apple wants to ruin my iPad with a dumb security update, the iOSX10.12.31433333333333333333333333 one
How do I ignore these annoying reminders.
Since I’m not 19 years old anymore I do not really need any security on the iPad, unless it’s by peter Gabriel

This from colleagues here. Install the tvOS 11 Beta Software Profile. It is at your own risk (especially delaying security updates) but many (including myself) no longer want to be surprised by bugs or poor performance on our iPads.

As for missing out on security updates, the dangers posed by not updating (very small, IMO) are outweighed by the benefits of keeping the device running trouble-free and smooth.

I always install the iOS updates. They patch holes in security and consider them required.

Windows is worst. I have Windows 7 and Win 10 Pro desktops and they are constantly updating, sometimes rebooting multiple times.

I think this "creative time" spent updating is well worth it. You do not have to do it instantly, I usually wait till I am done and then hit update and all is done when I get back.

It will not update automatically. You have to do it manually. At least before iOS 12.

I would, but The iPad gets weird and some apps do not function after updates, and these updates never concern what I do on the ipad.

Which iPad do you have? Which apps don't function? Since we really don't know all that happens when an update occurs, it would be very difficult to say whether or not it affects what you do on the iPad. I've done all of the updates when they are released on almost all iPads including the original and have never had any problems.

I don’t know about others, but I’m pretty content with IOS 11.3 on my iPad 5, thanks to the tvOS profile. It’s been stable and performing well with no surprises. Probably will keep it that way for quite a while.

That's not always possible. I have a few apps that are no longer available in the app store. The most prominent one is iMame arcade emulator. Unless Apple does something extreme, it won't be returning to the app store.

I wish your first option was first-party supported.

So Apple should support 8 bit apps also - and when the new features you want can't be implemented due to having to support old crap that would be OK.

If a developer produces and app and probably charge for it - then they have a responsibility to support it.

Maybe. But I've lost count of the apps which have stopped working because the company goes out of business, drops the product, or is acquired by another company. Most apps have, unfortunately, a specific lifetime. Eventually the changes in the underlying OS will make them obsolete or unusable.

Case in point, the OS/X Rosetta software allowing PowerPC apps to run on Intel. But that software no longer exists, so all those PowerPC apps are dead.

And some new apps will not function with the old OS, so six Vs half-dozen scenario.
