Does gazette download embedded images for offline viewing?

I've got it narrowed down to byline or gazette... can't decide between the 2.

i have both - but only use byline...if you plan to do any off-line browsing, get byline...it is awesome...downloads the entire article with images and the works...you wouldnt even realize you are offline...

really, try out bolt reader, it syncs to google reader, pushes and pulls but more importantly it downloads all feeds for offline viewing in under 2 mins. Pics and all. It destroys byline and newsline in terms of offline.

Episode Up & Spreadsheet Available

Well, we've finally got the episode with our reviews and thoughts on the RSS Readers up and available and the spreadsheet with the features and some of our thoughts on the different apps ready to be share.

You can check out the spreadsheet here. It's a Google Spreadsheet- so you should even be able to view it from and iPhone/Touch though it'll be a bit inconvenient.

Thanks for all your comments and opinions on the different RSS readers! I'm quite glad that I listened to many of you and made sure that I was the one of us who picked up and reviewed Newsstand because I have definitely been very pleased with it and will be sticking with using it from here on out (unless something even better comes along...).

I like Gazette but have an issue if I try to follow a link to a Yahoo source - I keep getting a Page Cannot be Found Error... Aside from that its a great app - very fast, clean looking...

I'm glad to hear you like newsstand too! Now if only they could work out image cacheing....

Yeah, that was one of the few things that I found that it was lacking- though honestly it's rarely a problem for me most of the time since I almost always have at least a cell connection. Another feature that I would have liked from it that at least one of the other, less expensive ones had was the ability to jump straight from deep in a feed thread back to the 'top screen'. Also, while the 'newsstand flow' screen is really nifty, it was a bit disappointing that you couldn't just jump from an open article in it to view it in full and had to back al the way out to the normal view and then navigate back to the article itself. I'm being a bit nitpicky though- overall it came out on top in my opinion and I'm quite happy with using it.

I used to use Manifesto -- not bad -- did the trick.

Now I just manage all my feeds through Google Reader and go directly to that webpage (have the icon on my homescreen). looks good, but not a local app.

I use Gazette. Its the only one that actually keeps perfect sync with Google. Unread counts always match. Byline and Feeds do not keep good sync. The unread counts are all over the place. With Feeds it actually changes every time you open the app (without refreshing or reading any articles).

Get Gazette if you are concerned about stable sync.
