but I find that I almost never use it. The one use I've found for it is when I'm using Jump Desktop, it's a little easier to point at stuff than with my finger.

Me too (never use it)

The one thing I would have a use for, that they'll probably never do, is access to mouse support (even if it's buried in Accessibility settings or something)

When I last had Mouse support on my iOS 9 JB it was totally awesome to use the BT KB and Mouse with my iPad in "laptop mode". I can get so much more done so much more quickly with a pointing device and keyboard.

  • ~These stylus tips have made my pencil indispensable.
~I have an iPad cover with the pencil holder so if I have my iPad, the pencil with the stylus tip is always with me.
~ I also keep a heavy, secure charger on the nightstand beside the wireless charger for my phone. It keeps the pencil stable and prevents the loss of the top while charging. Note the indentation to hold the cap or stylus tip.

I don't get the point of the stylus tips you showed. You're holding a stylus already, why do you need the other end to be a different stylus? It's not like it's going to act like an eraser or something.

You can use that end with capacitive screen devices.

I’m a teacher, so I use it to annotate documents and mark-up students’ assignments.

I also use it for taking notes faculty meetings and professional development.

I typically use Notability and the iOS Notes app.

I want to like it, but when taking notes my palm leaves nasty residue on the screen that makes very scratchy sounds whenever my pencil goes through it. So that makes is unoractical already, wiping down the screen all the time isn’t really an option for me and I’m convinced it will cause scratches because of the palm grease.

I do use it to navigate through the OS though and to sketch some poorly conceived artwork. O and also play wordfeud, which feels so much nicer with the pencil than it does with a finger.

I have no idea how “palm grease” causes “scratchiness” on aniPad screen, ut methinks I don’t want to.

Yeah it's weird. I also leave grease/sweat or oils on the sides of the macbook trackpad all the time, it's the same stuff. It just feels horrible to go through it with the pencil and not really safe. Maybe it doesn't do a thing, I don't know. Up until now the only scratches I have are from cleaning with a microfiber cloth that I washed with hot water by hand and didn't really get cleaned.

Microscratches are just unavoidable though, don't care. But I want to use dat pencil more.

Are there any apps for learning how to improve handwriting or to draw?

I use mine to take notes during conference calls, meetings and daily observations at work. I also like using it to navigate through the UI/browsing. I don’t regret buying the pencil, in fact it was the reason to buy the iPad.

I live in OneNote for my job, so I use it a lot to take notes in my OneNote notebooks. So much better than keeping track of paper legal pads for meeting notes and client meetings. For personal note taking I use Notability--it's much more robust than the stock Notes app. (I so wish I had an iPad, Apple Pencil, and Notability in college. It would have been a life saver!!!)

I also have kind of a fringe use case--I use Ferrite to edit audio tracks, and Apple Pencil works great in that app for splicing tracks. It's almost like using an exacto knife and splicing tape the old fashioned way, and much more accurate than a finger for finding that exact spot on the track that I need.

Another great use case--the Notion app. You can write your notes in a score using the Apple Pencil, and the app turns them into print quality notes. It's surprisingly speedy and accurate, and I've always been quicker handwriting music rather than using something like Sibelius or Finale on a computer.

I write in my keyboard app with it, and my handwriting is then converted to text. That still makes me smile.
Admittedly, since getting my ASK, this happens slightly less frequently.

But that said, just about every day, I am using it in Goodreader or LiquidText to annotate, annotate, annotate.
It is an indispensable part of my work life.
