Do you have some sort of automated back up set to the Quicksliver or is it all manual?

I currently writing a program to do just that. A small app to back up data, it going to be simple and scheduleable aswell. I love Apple programming never been so easy.

I read to offen about peoples computers HD drive, like when they drop the iBook, PowerBook, so wouldn't it be nice to sync the system.

It can back up to any drive, whether internal second drive, external usb/firewire or a drive shared on a server. The app will run at an set time, or can be set to run in automode so when the machine has not seen the backup directory then, it can background sync.

BTW it one use of my iMac dc 20" is to act as server(for now), planing on making a little new home tv/server using hopefully the new mac mini, if it comes with front row which is so cool. Then I junking my TV, DVD players etc and using my mac mini, LCD tv or large monitor, eyeTV and out 2 external drives on the back. A true digital hub for the home, plus server my network.

Sawtooth 400 -- upgraded with prologix 1.6 ghz card, 1.25 gigs of ram, 2x 120 gig hard drives, 10 gig drive, and 18.2 gig SCSI drive (currently not communicating with my computer), dual monitors running 10.4.5

portable

Wallstreet G3 -- 333 mhz 128 megs of ram (i think) -- i use this computer when i go away for a weekend and i need and need somewhere to dump my memory card cards, and write a paper.

ANEX computer - taking a break from setting this up as i type this actually

pII 400 mhz with running windows 98 currently -- trying to decide what i want to do with it.

i'm torn between keeping it running as is so that i can start playing half life again.

Or dumping it and installing linux, and having the computer act as a ssh server so that i can keep dump files on it that i might want to access over the internet.

At one time I had 2 imac g3. I got both of them for $0, I probably should have kept them and figured out what to do with them. But I got a G5 so I threw them out  doh.

I want to get a G5 some time to add to my collection, I don't want to get anything super new but might get an old G5 iMac 17" or something. That way I can have 3 types of iMacs. I think I can get a 2.0 Ghz 17" or 20" for about $900.

It one chip I have never own but thought was the bees knees

cool, All that folding@home, that a great use, I used to seti@home but Thought it was useless seeing that they never found anything in all the time it been running. plus personlly thought they project was floored and would never find any thing.

How does the G5 compare to other CPU in performance ?
