You forgot the hole in the wallet.
No, that hole was there long before the drop. ;)

Double whammy of wallet hole if you dropped it tho. Unless I'm the only one who would go buy another.

Watch me, I'm a lamb heading toward the Apple slaughter.... ;)

My iPod Touch was gifted to me with a DLO rubber jacket. I just cannot imagine not having such a thing on an iPad - a little better crash protection, scratch protection for the back, and an easier grip.

I too, like the DLO products. I have 3 of them for 3 of my iPods. For my Touch I went with a cheap silicone case for around the house, as well as a leather folio for carrying it safely in my pocket.

True though i wonder how that will go with Applecare

What does a CCs ext. warranty protection have to do with Applecare? The coverage works like this:

Year 1: regular Apple warranty. If you have an issue call Apple

Year 2: CC's ext warranty kicks in. If you have an issue call the CC company and get a claim#. Then take your machine to Apple or whoever you want to repair your machine and get it fixed. Pay for it w/ the CC . Submit the rec't to the CC company. They credit your CC.

Does anyone now wonder why the bezel around the display is so wide? Crush zone.

I actually think that physical strength maybe one of the main reasons behind the wide bezel. If the bezel was thinner then the iPad would be liable to twist and damage the glass.

REALLY?? I was under the impression that the glass COVERS the black area. am I correct or wrong on that?

The glass on my iPod Touch does cover the whole of the front so I would guess the same is going to be the case for the iPad. I don't think that this means that my theory is necessarily wrong though. The glass is still going to have to be attached to the bezel and the rest of the case. By making the bezel wide the case as a whole will be stronger and more resistant to twisting.

IF you mean that it is adhered to a wide substrate under the black area, that would make sense. I've forgotten precisely how the Touch/iPhone glass is adhered--overall or just over the black borders. I've seen the teardowns before, but it's been ages and I've slept since then. :) Having said that, I don't know if there is a removable sealant currently available that's transparent enough to not be noticed in the display area of the screen.
