How Durable the iPad Is Likely to Be; Will You Use a Case?

Hopefully the glass is scratch resistant like the iPhone.
I don't use a case for the iPhone and it takes heavy abuse without a lot of scratching that I can see.
I will guess that the iPad is also a little rugged (may be wrong)
But if it's anything like the iPhone, you could get by without a case perhaps.
