The 2018 MacBook Pro will get the 2019 top case. The entire part is replaced (keyboard, battery, trackpad, speakers). They do not fix individual keys.

I went in with a couple of sticket keys. They just “cleaned them” and returned it same day no swap YMMV

They blew them out with compressed air. If they have issues again....topcase replacement. That is the official method to fix

I too have a 2018 MacBook Pro with Touch Bar. I find I make more typing misktakes than ever before. Often my written text makes no sense, too many errors, often miss-hit a key, or miss-spelled a word, or the word is corrected to something completely else? I'm thinking about buying a new MacBook Pro when there is a new keyboard, just because of the keyboard. Otherwise great machine.

Got my MBP 2018 top case replaced due to keyboard program and flashy Touch Bar and I think it’s 2019 model. Keyboard feels more hard (less travel) than the original and also feels more reliable.

According to Coconut it was assembled at October 2020.

It was an AASP provider in Chile. As the MBP was bought in USA they replaced the language layout of the keyboard to Spanish.

Also got my MPB 2018 replaced last week and it definitely feels more smooth to use, I'm thinking it's 2019 also. So glad these batteries get switched out too, I lose 10% of health each year from light to medium use.

Bump on an old thread

My 2018 MBP top case with four TB ports was replaced about two years ago. My receipt showed 661-13160 part number. The final 3 digits of the part number depend on ports and color of the laptop.

Apple states if it begins with 661-10XXX, it was originally a 2018 part number, so a gen 3 keyboard.

Apple states if it begins with 661-13XXX, it was originally a 2019 part number, so it would be gen 4.

My gen 4 keyboard is officially two years old and has zero issue so far. Hopefully this provides clarity for someone.
