I adjusted the fan speeds because the temp was just getting up there. I mean average, 140 F.
I don't know enough to know exactly how to cool it or even why it is getting so hot!! I'm hardly doing anything on it.
At most, I have 8 tabs open maybe in 2 separate windows. No music, no downloading, no video or games......what could possibly make it this hot??
What Fan utility are you using?
My Unibody MacBook Pro 17" "idled" at 60c when I first got it and that was with nothing open. I was able to get this under control with a cooling-pad and Fan Control, which I set my Base Speed to 2200 RPM and the Lower Threshold to 40c. Now my comp, even with a few things open stays in the high-thirties to the mid-forties and rarely does it get into the fifties.
I also noticed a direct correlation between how hot my AC adapter was and the heat in the computer, so I bought a little USB fan, which I blow on it when my computer is charging This keeps it cool to the touch.
