Seems like the iPhone 5 will be the first iPhone ever to run its last iOS at a respectable level. Not surprised though, it's 3x faster than its predecessor and has the same amount of RAM as three generations of iPhones.

Scroll down to the 4th box from the bottom left and you should be able to see a video clip showing how it works. It's basically a glorified version of the current existing interactive notification feature present in iOS 9.

running it for 3 weeks now on my iphone5. Works great so far. imho less laggy than ios9. Battery life i experience about the same as ios9.

It was fine on my iPhone 5, slight lag here and there but fluid overall. I ended up rolling back to 9.3.2 though because I simply didn't like 10. My battery life was great.

I have the beta on mine. Overall, it doesn't seem to reduce performance in any significant matter, so that's good. I do turn on reduced motion since I never like the transitions ever since ios7. The only quirk is the need to press the home button twice to unlock instead of just swiping the screen.

What do you mean "still"? It's always been available in iOS 10 beta. Just not for 3rd party apps, because they cannot push out those updates until iOS 10 is officially released.

As in even the native Apple apps doesn't support rich notifications on the iPhone 5 according to several MR posters.

If you're in the lock screen you swipe left on the notification and tap the "View" to get into Rich Notifications. Was added ages ago.

Yes. This is a screenshot I took on my iPhone 5 running the latest beta of iOS 10. Notice what happens when you slide down a messages banner. There's no blurred background or small messages window displaying the conversation.

If you're in the lock screen you swipe left on the notification and tap the "View" to get into Rich Notifications. Was added ages ago.

This feature never made it to the iPhone 5, much like how Proactive never made it to the iPhone 4s, iPad 2, or iPad 3 in iOS 9. Look at the screenshot I took in the reply I made just above this. There is no messages window showing the conversation, just simple quick reply UI like before in iOS 9. It's just been redesigned for the iOS 10 style UI. So, there's no rich notifications.

No rich notifications are not available for iPhone 5.

That's annoying. I'm guessing that means no support for rich notifications in 3rd party apps either.

The app switcher suffers more at times, especially when coming out of the messages app into the app switcher, and going to other apps from it. Spotlight is slightly more sluggish/stuttery as well. The phone struggles slightly more all around with responsiveness/load times but it is still pretty usable. The most apparent thing to my eyes is poor performance with the new notification bubbles. Pulling down the Notification Center if you have many notifications is very stuttery, unlocking the phone when you have many notifications is very stuttery, tapping the search bar on the widgets pane of Notification Center or lock screen stutters a bit. Sometimes pulling up CC or tapping apps or folders has more of a delay than it used to. The app opening and closing animations from the homescreen you mentioned are smooth, and are a pleasure actually, compared to iOS 9.

I'd rate iOS 10 as; a bit slower just about everywhere, but still perfectly usable. Especially if you aren't bothered by frame drops and jitteriness. Reduce transparency fixes like all of the frame rate issues as far as I can tell.

It's no problem. Hopefully later versions of iOS 10 fix the issues.. Even my iPad mini 2 was suffering in all the areas the iPhone 5 is. Are you into jailbreaking/is your phone currently jailbroken? If not, I recommend upgrading to iOS 9.3.5 as soon as you can. 9.3 improved performance for all devices pretty much across the board. Getting in on that last performance increase before being forced to either stay where you are or go to iOS 10 would be a good idea. Also many security vulnerabilities have been fixed in later versions of 9.3.

Of course if you're jailbroken, don't upgrade. You'll lose your jailbreak and anything past iOS 9.3.3 is not jailbroken.

No slide to unlock?! I was planning to upgrade to iOS 10 on my 5 if initial reviews were positive, but really? That's kind of a deal breaker for me. Is that gone for all iPhones in iOS 10?
