I can't see how much it costs from cydia, how much is it? Is it easy to use like AT&T's tethering? I have to get rid of the tethering hack to get MMS with 3.1 so I want to use an alternative like PDAnet.

Works fine. Just install the carrier file, then set it up as an ethernet device in your OS's network settings.
I think I have the correct carrier file.
Where did u download yours from?
I go to settings.app->General->Network... And it says Internet tethering, as a category and I can turn it on and off.
So how do I set it up as an Ethernet device in the network settings!??

they give u a 14 day trial, after that, it's 29 dollars(1 time fee) to register it, thats it, i like it. just plug in ur iphone or use wifi to connect to the phone, 3g speed is awesome
Get MyWi. It's far better and far cheaper. I don't know how they came up with the price for PDANet - it has a junk interface.
MyWi is only $10 and the closest to real tethering (it even displays speed at the top).

What is MyWi? I searched it in Cydia and nothing came up. Is it a hardware that I have to use?
In Cydia download "RockApp". Then in RockApp search for MyWi. You even get 10 days to try it.
MiWi is a Cydia app. Just do the Rock App thing.
I just got it to work and I can use my iphones internet to get wifi on my ipod touch anywhere as well!!! Its easy to use, cheap, and, it displays useful info (aka speed) at the top of it. Be careful as to how much you use this though, because you can be charged extra money if you use it a lot (aka using up a lot of data)

even after the trial period it has worked fine for me... for the past 6 months i have been tethering whenever i needed to.

Since i bought the 3GS i havent been able to use the tethering!
PDANet = it wont turn on, i click the turn on wifi, and seems like it try it for 1 second and go back to off. I uninstall it and installed it like 3 times, i even installed the one (hacked one? on xsellize repo) and it does the same thing
MiWi = my Macbook wont connect to it, it sais theres somekind of error

PdaNet 1.53 on my 3GS works fine for most web pages, but for some reason it always stalls out on larger pages or files after a few MB. I have no idea why, and it happens on all the computers I've tried it on. PdaNet 1.51 worked for everything, including streaming videos from Hulu, but it drained the iPhone's battery (my old 3G) much faster.
Make sure you don't have the benm or carrier IPCC hacks installed when trying to use PDAnet or MiWi. I couldn't get them to work either, until I removed the benm and IPCC hacks, then the JB tethering apps starting working fine. Not sure if this is your issue or not, but it worked for me back on 3.0.0.
I just fired up my friends MB Pro (Snow Leopard OS) and was able to find my MyWi hotspot and connect. It should work!
I use and prefer MiWi over PDANet. I find it a lot easier to get MiWi setup (yes it can be user error, but it doesn't reproduce itself in using MiWi) and connect without having to setup adhoc networks, it's pretty much plug and play and well worth 10.00
Doesn't have a built in tethering feature in the USA with OS 3.1.
That's pretty much the big reason.
I use PDAnet...never had a problem...but I see everyone is picking MyWi

I'm having the same issues! I check the dev's twitter page (pdanet on twitter) almost daily to see if the next version might be coming out soon. I really love the app, but I'm considering moving over to mywi if this doesn't get fixed soon.
