Mine just celebrated its 4 week birthday in the shop. Apple's repair folks found a bad or badly connected graphics card and replaced the motherboard. Upon further inspection, they literally discovered a bug - they report a fly or gnat is embedded between two layers of the display- laminated in as it was built.

It's in the shop because Apple only has a 14 day return window, and the problems only became intense enough to contact support around day 15 or so - it started crashing constantly worked its way to a boot loop status.

So, I'm gonna pick it up from the authorized repair center and lug it into the Apple Store tomorrow and beg the manager to make things right. Apparently, only the store manager has this power. And apparently I have to beg Apple to take back a lemon and give me a decent machine.

27-inch iMac with Retina 5K display
Configuration

  • 3.4GHZ QC I5, TB UP TO 3.8GHZ
  • 8GB 2400MHZ DDR4 - 2X4GB
  • 1TB FLASH STORAGE

I wouldn't expect it not to be after 6 weeks but since you asked, flawlessly. It is the fourth iMac in succession for me since 2006 and by far the best.

2017 i7 4.2GHz, 512GB SSD, Radeon 580. No fan noise, no excessive heat, no problems at all. :)
I have the exact same iMac, and no issues for me. No fan noise, runs fast, beautiful machine.

I upgraded to 32 GB of Kingston RAM myself.
