10 years, but it depends on whether I have a need to get something newer in the meantime.

Both my Macs are 10 years old, and my PC is 8 years old with recent upgrades to memory and GPU. PC should be good for another 5 years at least.

The family is 'rolling' through the various levels of M series machines (all base models). There are a couple of 2018 Mac mini machines but they are just sitting around doing nothing. Keeping machines for 2-3 years then passing them among people in the family.

Just ordered an M4 MBP to replace my 2018 MBP. I would've probably kept the 2018 MBP for another two years except for two things: 1, and most obvious, Apple's switch from Intel to their own silicon, which is driving a lot of accelerated obsolescence. 2, the last gen of Intel-powered MBPs suffered from Intel's failure to hit their thermal targets. They were designed for a chip which ran much cooler, so if I'm using it with external monitor and doing anything stressful, the fans are going full blast most of the time.
