I use the BBC News website as my main news source. All the video, audio and interactive content is Flash based so I wouldn't last very long with it disabled.

I'm sorry, I don't see the real point of the question

Tell them to update their website and to remember the revolutionary war?

In that case, I could do without it entirely

Now, I couldn't last without air, water, food or sleep
But I think I could last indefinitely without Flash

have you tried disabling flash and seeing how long you were able to last? not a life and death question

I couldn't I need my porn... but of course I could just watch on my iPod touch

I hope porn industry switches

There are a couple other things I couldn't live without besides air, water, food, or sleep ;), but... what if I don't have a laptop? Sorry, but things are kinda ridiculous around here lately.

Seriously though, I use Firefox with Flash disabled. I haven't used it in weeks. It appears to be unnecessary, at least for me.

just a question. thanks for the input.

If you're trying to make a point that people can't live without Flash, you're wrong.
Yes, it may bug a few people on their laptops/desktops, however, the iPad has apps for basically ever major website out there that would be using flash. And it's made to just fit the device.
So you're argument isn't valid.

I use ClickToFlash, and video sites aside, I don't really miss it.

For the time being, I have disabled all plugins in Safari. When necessary, I will manually enable them. Just like, with the iPad, when I see the need to access Flash content, I have the option to open my laptop and do it on there. Not such a huge inconvenience. I am not prepared to forego Flash access completely right now. In ideological purity, I can't compete with Richard Stallmann . I do also have ClickToFlash installed, but I am growing more and more concerned about the negative side effect (politically), which is that you will still be registered by site owners as having Flash installed. That doesn't really help the cause of those opposed to the widespread usage of Flash. Stats matter the same way that sales do.

The more important question is:

How many iPod Touches, iPhones and iPad's need to be in the hands of affluent, desirable customers before content owners decide that alienating them is a bad idea, and stop using Flash - to the benefit of the whole internet *NAY* the world.

OP is trying awfully hard to make a point here.

+1

I have not used Flash since I found out about Click2Flash (about a year or so.)

If someone wants to use flash on vital parts of their site like navigation I simply leave it. If it is an animation, I probably don't care about it enough to see it.

So, to answer the question. I can do without flash for a long time. If I say around watching videos all day, I probably wouldn't last, but alas I find better things to do with my time.

To be fair, there do exist certain annoying high-profile Flash-only sites, whose purpose is not just simple distraction. That's why I wouldn't want to rely solely on an iPad. I think Apple doesn't want you to do that either though, which doesn't devalue the iPad at all in my eyes - in fact, to the contrary, I applaud Apple for creating pressure on Flash content producers to offer alternative ways of accessing that content.
