Treating/Keeping your Baby (Mac Book, Pro) like the day you picked it up...???

My Mac Book (White) lasted 2-3 weeks...I take the time wrapping it in the sleeve, having it in my Eddie Bauer Notebook bag when traveling with it...NOW I do the opposite, carrying it in my hand, leaving it on my bed/desk...that I can see hair line scratches on the screen/cover...!!! LOL

I still baby mine...and it looks great except for a hairline scratch or two on the bottom. It will be it's first birthday on the 23rd of this month

Oh yeah...I have a 12in Powerbook 1.5ghz.

I babied my iBook for about a month or two until I saw the scratches from carrying it in my backpack. I then decided that it's going to get beat up anyway, so might as well give it a good and active life.

Mine travels around Bangkok with me and goes to all my classrooms with me. I baby the hell out of it, I bought one of those black kevlar cases for it, and that's been the best 60 bucks I ever spent, absolutely awesome.

Does anyone know what the effect of chalkdust on the aluminum might be?

Mine has left the house only once, to take trip to the Grandparents for a slideshow.
Its got some finger prints on the top case, 1-2 light buff-out-able scratches so no worries...
The palmrests need replacing from yellowing, and i am afraid to clean the screen haha

Soo i think when i get my new Dakine laptop backpack, and anti-shock sleeve it will come to class a bit and out of the house..
I figure if it works like new, it doesnt need to be babied..Its a macbook, it is made to move, not sit on my desk..

I will however do all in my power to avoid it from getting scratched and dirty while giving it a healthy latop life, i figure 3 years of out and about and i will replace it..

Shes a champ this one! I plan of getting my monies worth whilest maintaining her great looks

My tibook goes through lots of pain and suffering since it's taken everything. There is one thing I baby and that's how I open up the screen carefully in order to not hurt the hinges at all, but some of you may not know of that issue with your macbook pro's

Actually I treated my Thinkpads like ass and they barely get dented, nor scratched even!

They look bland, but I wouldn't say they are ugly either.

I've always treated my Powerbook far more tenderly than my Thinkpads, I have to admit, but I'm finding out I need to treat my Macbook more tenderly still if I want to avoid any more scratches than it's already picked up. I'm with generik; I'd LOVE it if the Macbooks had a case as tough as the Thinkpads (mine are old dumpster dive refugees, and they're still barely scratched!). But still as sexy looking, of course.

About a month

I baby my macbook pro and today I dropped it from about chest high! Still works (I'm 6'3) just some denting nothing that isn't going to get fixed. Check out my post for more!

To this day, I sitll treat all of my Macs properly. My PBs are basically mindt condition as there is no scratch nor dent. My Ti PB is also in a mint condition. I have not taken them out on the road. My one year old 12" iBook is also in good shape. I use Radtech's iBook sleeve when I put it in the computer bag (which is properly padded) to prevent the scratches.

I don't let anyone touch my computer. So, I can minimize the risk from in-attentive people harming my computer gear.

My 9 months old Tablet PC is also treated well by me. I cover it with the proper tablet PC cover on both sides of the computer (bottom and lid).

My 1996 1400c literally looks brand new most people cannot tell that it isnt.

There isnt even fading on the trackpad, palmrest, or keyboard.

have had my MB since early august and it was pretty spoiled. Carried it with both hands, made a special sleeve, bought the Marware protection pack and never had any drinks or fluids near it.....now that i started school, i'm noticing some scratches and it gets knocked around in my backpack oh well, its bound to happen.

It's scary just thinking about it. The Mac Book is my last Mac Book/Notebook I purchase...I'm now thinking of selling it and just picking up my second iMac, the 24" iMac C2D...I'll probably just move the 20" Intel Core DUO (I picked up this past June) in the Family Room

So is $1,500 CAN fair...SuperDrive, 1GB RAM from Apple, 80GB HDD, it comes with Apple Care.

There are some straight up dorks around here. Sure I treat my MBP with the same respect I'd treat any other piece of $2000 machinery, but come on - its a computer. I bet some of these people don't treat their parents with half as much care. Oh well... to each their own.

^^^^ The reason I will not buy another Al computer. They are not life worthy at all. S**t happens and little dents, dings, and bulges shouldn't have to be something I worry about on a laptop!
