Seems the return to the hot Northbridge and fan blowing a gale seems to have been just a temporary aberration; maybe a bit of dust back to where it should not have been. After an overnight shut down and a reboot, all has been sweet since.

1) Will you please tell me what app you're using to generate your attached report?

2) Is there a trustworthy site that lists what the temps, etc., should generally be for each specific Mini model?

1) iStat pro, a Dashboard widget from App Store:

2) Dunno, and wouldn't worry about it. The Mini essentially looks after itself (and the shop looks after it when the need arises) but it is handy to know where a problem may be.

I mainly use the iStat to keep tabs on the HDD. Being quite small I shift files I want to archive, but seldom need to access on to an external drive when it gets a bit full.

My mini a late 2012 i7 quad, I bought 3 months before the new model came out. I upgraded ram and use a external ssd in a usb3 enclosure as a boot drive. Its never had any issues at all. I bought a 2007 Mini for my parents its still running even with the original hdd. They last forever in most cases.
