Jailbreaking does not cause lag to your devices. How you could be nervous to jailbreak, I dont know how thats possible! Jailbreak is amazing! But its the memory intensive apps you download that cause your device to lag!! Even some appstore apps cause iphones to lag! There is even an app in Cydia though that allows you to somehow raise ram memory limit to help lower and make less of a lag on your device like the 3GS!:)

what app would that be

There is more then just one. But, video game apps with nice details cause lagging. Winterboard and big themes you have chosen are memory intensive! . Categories may cause a little lag. Push notification causes lag and battery drain just like 3G service and the backlight when really bright (backlight only drains battery, it does not cause lag!). Along with a few others too. This is why you use SBsettings and the processes toggle because they can really lower lagging by a lot!:) Also, running multiple/many apps at the same time causes lagging and crashes to occur.

I think he meant the one to raise the memory limit. :p

It's not that good. It does what it says but it creates a swap file for additional memory. This doesn't get rid of lag though. It seems like it would help backgrouding as apps that are not in use can be put into swap, but I noticed MORE lag with this because of the writing and reading from RAM to swap.

I'm going to mess with it a little more but I'm thinking of removing it.

Ohhhh ok. I see. Well if you find out anything interesting then let us know!

Hmmm, I wonder why the OP hasnt responded to any of these posts. Did he jailbreak or not?

lol i have Jailbroken! i have ever since the first the first iphone was out :) i remember the good ol' days of Ziphone :D however i had a recent issue with messing up the 'strings' file which u might see in my 'post' history which frustrated me and questioned whether i shud have even jailbroken inthe first place, i know its only minor but ust wondered what the percentage of JBers out there. i guess that this being a iPhone forum that most are really enthusiastic about their iphones and wud have given it a chance. most of my friends with iphones dont have a clue about jailbreak and when i try to talk to them about it totally dismiss it and think im a geek for doing so...saying its just a phone for text, calls etc etc

Exactly how do you know that the jailbreak doesn't install or allow some malware backdoor?

malware for your phone?

you decide what you want to install. obviously you should read up on an app before installing anything. if you have common sense, you dont just blindly installing apps without any knowledge. i assume most jailbreakers should have this kind of common sense to get this far to jb their phones.

The jailbreak does not. Many people work on the system and nobody has ever noticed such behavior since OS 1.X.

No worries there. In fact the unjailbroken iphone has malware/spyware. :p

The ad software included in some App Store apps track your phone's location and send other information to the ad company.

There is a Cydia app to block this. So my jailbroken phone actually has LESS malware/spyware. :D
