iPad Pro 12.9 has 196 cycles since end november 2015, 96,3%
iPad Pro 9.7 has 99 cycles since half July 2016, 99,4%
iPad Mini has 154 cycles since end February 2013, 90,0%
iPad original has "unknown" cycles but is still on 82.3% of it's design capacity.

Mini and original are use by my 3 and 5 year old.

I'm really happy with my iPad Pro's. If I'm not at my desk, I empty both of them in a good days work. If at my desk, they charge often at the Logi smart connector stand. Charging the 12.9 in the Logi stand isn't doing much btw, it just trickles and when screen brightness is 100% and it's zipping files it doesn't charge at all, just decharges a bit slower.
12.9 is used really a lot and often with keyboard, 9.7 is used for taking notes with pencil and Nebo when working at the 12.9 and for casual reading and a tiny bit of gaming.

iPad Pro 9.7 has 62 cycles since end of September 2016;

Only 6600 mAh from original 7131 mAh capacity [design capacity] (why don't I have the normal 7300 ??? ) remaining, that's much worse than my 5 year old iPad 3 (still 80% capacity!);

I am a little bit worried...

Did you ever run it down to zero % and then charge it to 100% again in one go?
Sometimes that can calibrate the battery.

My 12.9 iPad Pro has 145 cycles since being made in January, 2016. Current battery capacity is 91%.

The thing usually gets stuck charging at 96%, and never goes any further, even though it's still in a charging state with the lightning bolt displayed next to the gauge. Rebooting it resets the gauge so that it says it's 99% charged, but it hasn't said 100% in ages. Cannot honestly remember the last time I saw it state "100%".

A couple months ago, when I first contacted AppleCare about it, the person with which I chatted said that never going past 96% charge is "normal since the battery only has 91% of its original capacity" (total BS explanation.) I complained to Apple about that explanation, BTW (I was sent a survey after they closed the call.) They really need to train their employees better.

I haven't yet bothered to escalate the issue with Apple, as I wanted to troubleshoot a bit more first, so ...

The device has been charged since purchase with the original 12W charger and cable that came in the box. I got the 29W charger and USB-C cable yesterday, hoping it would give better results, but it's just more of the same (except it gets to the 96% stuck state noticeably faster.)

I guess it's time to escalate with Apple support. As I was typing this message, the device, plugged into the 29W charger right after rebooting, went from 99%, down to 96%, with the charging indicator on. Not even doing anything. Display was off (I'm posting this from my phone.) What a pain. I think I either have a wonky battery, or something is wrong with the charging circuitry.

After seeing the numbers in this thread from others, it seems that losing almost 10% battery capacity in ~1.25 years is not very normal. Combine that with the charging issue I'm having, something's not right.

Maybe try calibrating? Battery calibration has always - in my case - solved this kind of battery indicator-related issues.

No, discharge it to 70% or so, then charge it. If it's on a charger for prolonged times it doesn't go to 100%

It's been discharged multiple times down to somewhere in the 30-40% range, just through normal use. Unfortunately, it had no change in the behaviour.

I have an appt today at 15:30 mountain time at a local Apple Store for further investigation. Weird thing about that appt is that when I typed in the same symptom on the support site at apple.com, their default action was to "chat with support". Last night, when I did it again, using the same symptom, the default option was to send in for repair.

Anyway, hopefully get some explanation from them that makes more sense during the appt today.

On their recommendation, going to try a DFU restore to reset the power management stack. If the problem resurfaces, they're going to replace the device.

I hope it fixes it, because other than this charging issue, the device is flawless. I'd rather fix the issue with this device if possible, rather than risk some other problem with a replacement unit.

Person I spoke to said that battery calibration with present day devices is not needed. They also apologized for the crap response that I received from the Apple Support chat rep a couple months ago. (He saw the chat transcript in the notes that are tied to my device.)

Faith in Apple Support is now partially restored.

Plugged it in to 29W charger last night when it was at 66% (after Apple did a DFU restore on it.) Still fresh iOS 10.3.1 install on it. Battery drained from 66%, down to 58%, while plugged in with charge indicator on. Restarted device, and then it started to charge.

Went to bed. Woke up this morning, and it was at 97%, with charge indicator still on. Battery capacity dropped down from 92%, to 88 percent. Restarted device. No change.

Guess they need to replace.

The PSU on my Synology DS1812+ died last night too. Maybe I'll go live in the mountains and stay away from tech altogether.

Purchased my 12.9" in 2-Dec-2015 (Manufacture date: 12-Oct-15)
Right now at 197 cycles, 9010 mAh maximum charge (@87.4% of design capacity)

My 9.7" pro tests at 84.5% with 282 cycles.
Does anyone know what are Apple's guidelines? Am I within the accepted limits?

The actual usage from a full charge seems poor (since new) compared to my previous iPad Air.

sorry to necro this post but I was curious and just checked my son's 7/5/2010 iPad (he is severly autistic and it is one of the things he really enjoys)

939 Cycles and still at 91% capacity. Has a big dent in the corner but still going strong...

That is absolutely amazing... battery life wise! Very cool that iPad is being put to great use. :)

I keep a file with health and cycyles that I update regularly...

Ipad pro 10.5 88.3% 160 cycles
Ipad pro 12.9 (first gen): 59.2% 175 cycles
Ipad pro 9.7 128GB: 85.3% 332 cycles
Ipad pro 9.7 32GB: 94.8% 225 cycles
Ipad mini 5: 87.2% 27 cycles
Ipad mini 4: 77% 142 cycles
Ipad mini 2: 85.6% 201 cycles

As you can see, hardly any relation between cycles and health...
Actually battery life matches health...

Wish I pulled my stats on my iPad 4. Used it daily from 2013 to late 2018...

Current 11 inch iPP is at 297 since launch day.

Any recommendations by you experienced iPaders about battery management?

Never lower than 50%? Keep it on the power cable if possible?

According to the numbers given here iPad batteries seem to deteriorate faster than MacBook batteries.
