Where's the "Eagerly waiting for my first ever mac which happens to be an Intel iMac" option? ;) Having a hard time believing the machine should soon arrive, I've dreamt of this for years.

Anyway, took the "iMac Core duo - my first ever mac" option since that's exactly what it is.

My option isn't up there - "Waiting for a Conroe/Merom iMac in 2007, my current iMac works flawlessly". :p ;)

That's my opinion too (except maybe change iMac for some flashy laptop)!

Yeah, it's always a big test of my willpower when dealing with Apple since they release so many tempting cool products, but I have to keep telling myself that I simply just don't need a new Mac right now. ;)

New 20" iMac Core Duo here, replacing a G3 iMac.

And not a moment too soon! The old iMac went POOF yesterday, crackling away and giving off a smell that could only be fried computer innards. Maybe it was because I had the G3 iMac connected to the Core Duo via firewire and forgot to hold the "T" key down when I booted the G3 up?? (Good thing I had previously transferred everything over to the new iMac.)

The old one had been going steady for the past 5 plus years - I almost never turned it off. But I was afraid the G3 was on it's final legs, anyhow, and decided that I just couldn't hold off any longer waiting for something 'even better' to come along, and I made the move to the Intel iMac. Soooo glad I did!!

Interesting poll. I wonder how many people are switching back to a Mac after some time of being on a Windows machine. In other words, someone who is not replacing an aging Mac nor switching for the first time.

Technically, my first Apple was a IIe and then my first Mac was a Mac SE that I bought back in the 80s at college.

I just recently happened to be in the market for a home computer and the performance increase with the switch to Intel helped to clinch the deal. It's been a while, but I've come home. :)

I am having real internal conflict over this... I could really use the faster rendering of the MacBook Pro but I just wasn't impressed with the quality of OS X on the Intel's. It almost seems as though Maxuss has made more progress in keeping OS X stable on hackintoshes than Apple has with the MacBook.

:-(
