What about the entry-level iPad 2023/2024, is it too soon? Would now be a bad time to get an iPad 10 as there are no rumours?

Thus far, Apple has released a refresh of the entry level iPad every year since 2017.

I just don’t know what changes they can make to the iPad 10th gen without killing off the market for the iPad Air.

Since the last release has been a major redesign, the next one will probably just be a spec bump (e.g. A15 SoC).

I'm down for that but I need a computing device soon. If there was some sort of rumour about the 11 series coming this year I might wait but I've only got until the end of the year before the teacher discount I have access to runs out - only with this discount is the iPad 10 even a consideration (even then it's overpriced in the UK but I can't use the Pros due to eye strain). Clocks ticking for me and I'm impatient!

Ah, yes. I’ve forgotten about the A15.

In that case, it’s a very minor spec bump. There’s not much improvement going from A14 -> A15 apart from the GPU.

I do wonder if they’ll be keeping either 9th gen or 10th gen as the $329 iPad or if they’re just gonna ignore that price segment completely.

Yes, that's the unanswered question for the future of the base iPad. The above, or possibly keep the 10th and drop the price while introducing the 11th as replacement at $449. But I tend to think this unusual dual strategy was unique this year as the 10th is a significant redesign that greatly differentiated from the 9th. So my guess is the 11th will simply replace the 10th at the same $449 price point.

Geez, I tend to believe Apple will update iPad lineup this month.

I have included iPad's financial report from last year with comparison result of this year. After peak quarter from Q4 last year, the iPad's revenue has been steadily declined quarter after quarter. Apple did mention they are expecting another drop this quarter.

If you know Apple, you should know Apple will try to maintain every year financial report. Thus I am expecting new iPads this year. Base iPad might not be getting update, but Apple might reduce the price to encourage sales because we know how bad the economy out there. What do you think???

Oh wait, I adjusted financial result by one quarter because I want to see yearly result, so don't take above results as financial result:p

I had wondered if they might update the Air and then the Air 5 becomes iPad - and the landscape camera, having been successfully trialled, goes to the Pro/Air. There’s less of a need to move it on the Mini and some users might prefer it as is, depending on their use case.

in May I decided to upgrade my iPad gen 5 2017 I used 40 hour a week.
finally in august 1st, I decided to get the Blue iPad Gen 10
I was very happy!
my main choice was the blue iPad air earth new or refurbished.
the usb C port was ver important since that conecditiy is solid.
the file sharing was the second important aspect.
and I realized this device is a tablet, which does not need to power of my MacBook Air m1
so I punched and is 100% happy.
so
"Reducing iPad 10th Gen's price from $449 to $349"
would be a misjustice to the value of that iPad, which is worth the price.
my  pencil gen 1 works great and the battery has a great life span.
what really impressed my was the deeper color blue on the back cover.
hat looks weak on the website but immaculate in person.

now I will go and read the rest of the voting options!
