Can we get a poll going? I'd love to see, if Apple put the Tablet up for pre order today, how many people would actually pre order it. Considering we don't even really know what it is, I feel like a lot of people would...

You mean preorder it sight unseen? Without even seeing the specs? No.

However, if they tell me it's the media device that has been rumored, with Verizon connectivity and $1000 or less, sure. I'd preorder it in a heartbeat.

Depends on what happens on the 27th.

The only deal breaker would be a requirement for Verizon. I give AT&T 270/month I don't need to add another 60 or 70 to Verizon.

Yes, unseen. I'm asking everyone if they would preorder it today, only knowing what we've seen from macrumors and the like. I guess at an $800 price point.

I wouldnt.

I am either getting a Macbook Air or a tablet, I need something small and light just for traveling. If the tablet is aimed at pushing content down our throats then I'm not interested at all. If it lets you use it casually to access internet over wi-fi, save files, view edit documents then I am definitely getting one. Otherwise I'm going with the MBA

Never buy revision A Apple products.

I think that's true with most companies but yes. That's exactly why I wouldn't. I'm currently on a 1.67 ghz PowerBook G4 and waiting for a MacBook Pro with LightPeak. Ha! Just waiting...
But i really think the tablet will be amazing. Who knows, maybe once I see it i'll "need" it!

Let me repeat that.. Never buy revision A Apple products.

Early adopters are routinely screwed by gimped products or prices.

I've owned several revision A products by Apple. I got the first Intel iMac. Still works great. I got the first iPod Nano. Great music player.

I bought a first generation iPhone, before the price drop two months later. Absolutely no regrets. I bought it for $500 and it's worth $500, regardless of how it was priced later.

I've had an iPhone for almost two and a half years. Yeah, I payed more than it costs now, but how can you say I got "screwed"? Time is money and the years I spent using my iPhone every single day is worth the money I payed.

Just because you don't agree with the mentality of early adopters doesn't make it "bad", it just makes it different. It's a choice, it's not right or wrong.

At the moment I'm not convinced as to how useful it'll really be.

The laptop is a perfect design whereas the thought of typing on a tablet one-handed whilst holding it in the other, or craning over it whilst it's on a table in order to use both hands, doesn't appeal. Not to mention the (likely) poor battery life and (relative to a laptop) tiny hard drive/SSD.

Apple will really have to pull out something special - something I didn't KNOW I wanted, for me to buy it.

Without knowing any info about it, no. But I've got £1000 sitting on my desk right now, if I like what I see in the keynote, that money's going straight to apple.

If it meant I would get it before anybody else? Probably not. But I'm not a risk-taker. Somebody might believe they could turn around and sell it for double while everybody else is waiting in line. Not like that hasn't happened before.

Exactly!!!

This stuff is getting out of control. Why don't these bastards simply go straight to my employer and give me an allowance, like I'm 10 years old.

I've never had an issue with a rev. A product.

Won't be buying this if a wireless contract is needed. I have enough monthly bills, thank you.

OP - If you edit your post, click on advanced, you should be able to add a poll :)

Thanks! But I can't seem to find it... :( I clicked advanced but don't see any poll options. If you can point me in the right direction I'll gladly add it.

I would pre order it without seeing it and I hope it has 3G with it. This isnt something I'm going to use at home that much and I would want 24/7 connection. There aren't enough wifi hotspots not to have 3G.
