I would buy it without looking at the price. I would blindly enter my credit card and choose 6 hour shipping.

Also, I still use a 1st gen iPod Touch so I'm a firm believer in solid launch products from Apple.

$800 - how many of the rumors are accurate?

If it meant delivery in March vs. July then I would sight unseen.

What's the likelihood of Apple doing pre-order? Does Apple do this for many products? Never seen it with iPhones/MBPs.

I've only ever seen MacPros and iMacs on pre order if memory serves.

Yeah, still, I'd pre order it if had AirTunes. Or if it's shiny.

I got the original iPhone and 3G on both days they were released, I think with this one I'm going to wait on the side-lines and see what happens and How people like it, maybe get a refurb when they hit the apple store.

This is something I will try to be order #1 on.

I got first generation iPhone on Day 1. Best $599 ever spent. There had just never been something as fantastic as it.

With updated Macs and whatnot, I can't get very excited anymore. The shape might change slightly, etc. I know Macs well, so it's hard to get as excited for them.

However, this would be a completely new generation of product. Something that we have never experienced before. I *must* try this new experience. I can't wait!

Not sure why many don't take advantage of the refurb site.

I'll be ordering one when I've taken a good look at the specifications and design. Usefulness is of course, top priority to me.

Depends on what it actually is. I won't shell out 800-1000 for a larger iPhone, since I already have the 3GS. And also, whatever features that are in this tablet will probably be implemented in the next gen iPhone, so I'm probably gonna save my money for that over the tablet.

Can we get a poll going?

There is the option to create a poll when you start the thread. I've added one now as I am not sure if it is possible for you to add one after the thread has been open for a while. If you want another option added or change please do ask.

I wouldn't pre-order one as I would like to see real world usage reviews and have a look and feel of the actual product. Also there is likely to be issues with the cost and if it is tied to any other service which could well put me off buying altogether.

I agree 100%. I have ordered my AppleTv and Macbook from the refurb store and have been pleased with both, you can't tell they were a refurb they were both pristine and not one flaw on either. And saved hundreds, the only thing they came in is a different box. I have waited this long for the tablet whats another month or so before the refurbs it the store.;)

I wouldn't pre-order it because I know it would be cheaper to buy from other retailers.

KIND of true...

Resellers will often throw in some kind of value-added doodad. After the furor dies down , we might see MacConnection offering some kind of protective case, or maybe a set of cheap headphones, although still selling the thing at Apple's MSRP.

Of course, Apple always has to charge sales tax, whereas many other resellers don't (depending usually on what state you're in). Ordering from B&H Photo would save me about $65 on a $1000 iPad.

Personally speaking I never pre order any product until I know the specifications and cost, have read a number of user product reviews and have seen the product in various video reviews to get a good idea of the design.

I just cant afford to throw money at things before doing my own research.

Cant wait until Wednesday though :D .......

If my cash flow was better at the moment I probably would pre-order it, because it sounds interesting.

Right now all of my available cash is being reinvested as fast as I can apply it to my business, so unless it provided me with some very real benefit early on, I will be holding off just a bit.

Of course it will also depend upon how long until it comes out. If it is not going to be out for a few months, I might indeed pre-order it by then. Any decision now, though, would be based totally on fun factor and not on usefulness factor.

Until it is actually out and being used, it would probably be hard to judge its value as a productivity tool.
