I sold my O2 prepay mint condition 3GS that i have had for 9-10 months (bought £449) for £355 cash and im putting the ££ towards a 4G.

Not a bad price i don't think for 10months use.

I was trying to maximize the price i would get considering the 4G is 'rumoured' to be cheaper!

I've thought about this but am worried that the 4G will essentially be the same as the 3GS (a bit like how the 3G to 3GS was a fairly pointless upgrade).

I'm probably going to hold on to my 3GS.

I've been getting by in the meantime with an 8gb slim touch that i got for £50 (faulty) but was still under warranty so apple gave me a new one lol.

It seems as fast as the 3GS except for some webpages and i'm easily bothered by the speed usually!

If im out of wireless range at work/home i just tether it to my nokia e52 3G via wifi.

It's nice not having to charge every day, and while it may be 2 devices to sometimes carry, reception is a lot better and im not so scared of breaking my phone at the pub lol.

I sold my white 3g 16gb in Sept for $425 and bought the 32gb white 3gs. Gonna do the samething this summer. People gonna pay me to upgrade. Done deal.

I don't see the point of selling my 3GS now, in the hope that a new phone is released somewhen in June/July (3-4 months) and use a different phone for that period. I bought the phone because I wanted it, why would I spend quarter of a year using my old phone :D

I'll wait, and see if it's released, if it's a worthy upgrade, and wait until all the g33ks have got hold of it, and the bugs are sorted, and there's plenty of stock, so probably about 1-2 months after release.

The fact my phone may be worth £50-£80 less at that time, to what it is now, far outweighs using my old phone for that time.

I sold my 3G earlier this month for £280 (it was officially unlocked by O2), which is only £70 less than you can buy one on payg, and it's "last years" model. I don't think prices will drop that much anyway, not that I'm worried about resale value.

Well

Until the 4G or what ever Applr calls it comes out! In July, 4 months away I have no idea! what if the 4G has norhing I want nor need!

I'm using a dumb flip phone waiting for release...it's effin brutal. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. Thank gad I have an ipod touch AT LEAST.

I'm just considering myself lucky to get a 3GS about a month ago with the old bootloader. If it's able to be an untethered jb on the new phone, and the specs blow the 3GS out of the water, I may consider selling and upgrading. We'll see what Apple has to offer. I'm thinking I'd get more ching for it with it being the old bootloader, as compared to a tethered jb.

This is a premature move. What are you going to do with the time between now and when 4G is released?

The additional amount of money you make selling 3GS between now and then, is that worth the loss of having 3GS for that period of time?

Assuming I make an additional $50-$150, the answer would easily be a no for me.

Totally agree. It makes no sense to me to get rid of a phone you like and go without for 4 months until the new one hits.

Yes still early.
Its not like it will drop much in price after the new one is announced. If you keep it with an unlockable baseband and firmware that can be JB then it will potentially worth more when sold.

I'm quite happy with my E52/touch combo at the mo mainly due to the battery life.

If i put push email on my 3GS it would usually be out of battery when i really need it.

My E52 seems to last 5 days with fairly high usage and my itouch tethered to it lasts about 3 days with push mail on.

Also, im probably gonna get an iPad, having an iPad + iphone on me at the same time seems excessive, and they cant be tethered without jailbreak+ MyFi or whatever its called, and that nukes the iphone battery.

At the mo im quite liking that i can just choose to pickup the itouch when i go out, or go for the ipad in the future and still get online with them.

I the iphone 4G is notably slimmer and has better battery life then i will probably ditch the touch, till then i'll happily see an improved bank balance!

I'm selling my iPhone 3GS for $100. That seems fair enough since the right edge is slightly misaligned. It doesn't have any scratches though.

It's going up on craigslist tonight.

Im debating on selling my 3G the end of May! But I need to see if my cousin has an extra ATT phone I can borrow.

This is what I was planning on doing while the market is hot, especially for the older bootrom 3GS' which I have. Even though i'm getting tired of the 3GS, I feel like I use all its features a lot more than I think, and getting a flip phone in the meantime would probably drive me nuts. I might sell it anyways and use the money to dump into my car and worry about getting a new iPhone when it comes out.
