I was just thinking about this the other day – it's quite a few; My brother, my Mother, my girlfriend, my girlfriends Mother. These have all been direct converts, as in they asked me what computer to get next and I said "a Mac". In my social group of about 20 people, about half now have macs, but some were using them through work before I had any influence on there decision.

I tend to recommend macs to family mainly because if their machine has a problem I'm the one who has to fix it. If it was a windows box it would be that much more headache.

Sort of like 2.....they don't own Macs, they just acknowledge that Macs are much superior than PCs. Technically, I only have one friend who uses a Mac. :(

I've been instrumental in switching at least 4 folks that I can think of in the last few years. Probably more if I really thought about :apple:

2 so far and I use to be a great proponent against the Mac and its ill capabilities. I guess I saw the light and turned over a new leaf.

I switched in Jan. 2005, bought a 15" PB G4. I then got my sister to switch, she bought a 12" PB G4 (She still has it, loves the size). A good friend was next with the 15" PB G4 that used PC4200 ram (I guess the last of the PB's), and he still has it and uses it. I then got another friend into the Apple world, he bought a 1st gen 17" MBP. Another friend followed with 1st gen 13.3" MB (white). Another friend got switched with a 1st gen 13.3" MB (black). And finally, my cousin switched after a year of thinking about it, and bought the new 15" MBP w/ LED display.

All of them love OS X the most, that was all of there reasons to switch, nothing more really.

So in short, I switched 6 people. I know I have a few more people that will switch, they just need to come up with the money to do it.

I've convinced 12 people to switch from windows to Mac OS X. All of them are very happy with their Macs and rarely even have questions about it even more. I hope to convince many more :).

I have taken exactly 23 people from the dark side and brought them over to Apple. I have been counting for when Apple decides to give recommendation prizes, I can go cash up.

100% because of me:

Dad, Brother, Sister, Uncle, Grandad, Grandad's friend, Friend's brother (Mum is saving for an iMac and a friend is saving for a Macbook)

Partly because of me:

I use a Macbook in school, one of two computer users in my class. Almost everyone said I was crazy for using a mac, now all the people who sit around me have one or want one.

On the moon.
My mom stole my iBook.

I offered to replace it when I can with a P4 Dell lappy, but she declined, saying she'll keep her little friend until he finally gives up the ghost. (The iBooks starting to get those crappy logic board issues.)

1 for sure. A friends of mine, and he didn't even really want to buy one!

Maybe 1 other, but his Dad bought it for him. I didn't really do much, but I had him sold on the idea of wishing he could buy one.

I've convinced a couple of others that they want one :D
