I heard that a credit check will be done at the time of the purchase to see if you qualify for the phone. If your approved you will receive a code, then you can go home and activate the phone.

Another thing I heard is the the iPhone iPod features do not work until you activate your phone with the code, so I don't see how people are going to buy these phones and sell them on ebay.

A person purchasing it on ebay will have to use your credit approval code to activate the phone...:(

you can do the credit check at the store if you want but don't have to. it can also be done when activating the phone through itunes.

people do not need a specific credit check code to start activating the phone. they can perform the credit check on itunes after they receive the phone they bought on ebay so this will not stop ebayers.

This makes sense...

This also means that there will be people who buy the phone, but can't activate it because there credit check does not get approved.

This is good news for ebayers, because these people will probably sell them on ebay to get their money back.:p

Anyone know if AT&T stores are forcing you to activate on the spot or are they going to let people take them home and activate them on iTunes like Apple Stores are doing it.

No, you will be able to take home your iPhone and activate it from iTunes - you will not be forced to activate it in-store.

I went to a cingular store today, there is NO activation in any store or purchase online, all activations through itunes, and for family shared, the store im going to is no limiting # of phones for shared plan, but all on plan must be present to recieve them. What i was told today. Maybe store dependent,
