Xs Max.

I think I’ve dropped my phone twice in the last 4 years since my iPhone 6 days. I never use case or screen protectors since iPhone 4S days.
Same. I’ve dropped it a couple of times in the last several years.

I am currently using a XS naked. Haven’t had a screen protector since 2008, have only used a case on one iPhone since the 3G (can’t remember which, maybe the 6? Whichever, it was super slippery).

I don’t drop mine usually. Once in like 10 years. And it was in a case with a screen protector, and dropped on carpet so no damage. I always use a case with holster as well so it’s on the belt or in the pocket clipped. The case/holster combo is why my phones always stay mint and scratch free.

I rarely drop my iPhone, but when I do, it's typically on carpet. So I voted a few times a year.

Few times per year option. I've used phones naked here and there but always end up going for an Apple leather case, especially with the X models. The cases feel incredible, fit like the phone was built to go in it and fix the rocking on a flat surface caused by the camera bump. The cases have gotten some shredded corners over the years but I've never broken a phone in a leather case.

I have the black leather Apple case and do like that it gives decent protection in a minimal case. How have your corners become shredded? From drops or normal use?

I have some super thin Tozo cases that I love but they offer absolutely no lip above the screen.

From drops. The nice thing is in the beginning the damage stands out because it shows the color underneath with no wear but as time goes on it evens out and matches the rest of the case. I like it as it adds personality.

For me, I say about 15-25 times a year. My husband is always counting. I now have the XS Max and it’s the first time I cracked the glass with a protective case on it. Granted I fell of the stairs with my phone in my hands. But I learned how to live with it.

iPhone 6s Plus.
To be perfectly honest, I drop my phone from time to time from my bed because I tend to use the phone will falling asleep.
Now my front glass has a small noticeable crack, but does not impact my use at all. Also some scratches around the edge. I don’t like using a case so this is kinda inevitable over 3 years of normal use.

Try a screen protector. Has saved mine a time or two for the same reason ;)

I drop mine once or twice a year. Only busted it bad 1x - tripped up a set of concrete steps.
Now I have dropped things on it.
I put a privacy screen protector on the front and a Vaja leather back.

Haven’t dropped my X yet(knock on wood) but a case is a must for me. I just picked up an Apple leather case for my X replacing the clear Spigen Ultra hybrid that was used for the last year. Slightly less protection but much nicer in the hand. Love the buttons, very responsive.. I noticed new cases designed to fit both the X/Xs fit poorly around the camera on the X so finding a case specifically for the X is getting more difficult..

Best Buy still carries Apple cases for the X. I agree, the X and XS cases are close but not interchangeable.

Xs Max here. I'm in the "few times a year" category, and always use a good, solid case (UAG Monarch, Element, etc) as well as screen protector on my phone. I also treat/handle my phone like the thou-plus computer-in-hand that it actually is, and am never nonchalant in it's handling. And I do have AppleCare on it.

I'm one who prefers to keep the phone until the end of it's useful cycle, too, so I take care to allow it to be of service for as long as reasonably possible.

My old iPhone 6S was so light to me that I would always forget that it was on my lap when driving. Took several tumbles over the years just from me getting out of the car and forgetting that it’s there.

As far as my XS Max, I dropped it with a case and screen protector on from knee height onto carpet so I don’t really count that much as a drop..Otherwise it’s heavy enough for me to always know where it is on me so no drops getting out of the car so far!

Personally I hate cases because it ruins the looks and the whole experience of owning such an awesome piece of hardware. What’s the point of spending over a grand to buy the device and covering it up with some cheap plastic?! Nah!

It's not a piece of art, it's a tool to be used. I could care how they look. I always use a case, I hate the way they feel naked, they are like a slippery bar if wet soap

I dropped an iPhone 4S one time. I dropped a 6S+ one time. Both times, no damage.

Ever since the 6+, I’ve used Apple leather cases on every phone and they do the job. I would not use any other case.

Rare for me. Like once or twice a year. Bu early this year I broke my first iPhone screen since owning iPhones in starting 2007. Broke the front glass. That hurt, about 170 to repair the screen.

This depends on the personal view point of someone. The devices themselves are tools but the looks definitely go through a lot of consideration in terms of design and aesthetics. UX is definitely considered an art in the field of HCI.

Do you think Apple leather case’s are cheap plastic?

I’m not particularly fan of the Apple cases. I feel any case for that matter cheapens the look of the device.
