I have yet to have a issue with Macs, I guess I am just blessed with the magic touch, but it is also not normal that you are experiencing these probs.

Definitely take it in to get looked at Apple has great support, and you get a free year of Applecare with your computer purchase so take advantage and get it fixed and then sit back and enjoy your machine.

Called 3 times. First 2 to fix bootup & heat issues on i5 27" I returned. Third time for general question. I am very experienced with PCs, but this is my first Apple. I generally search the forums or google for the answer before I call anyone.

I had terrific service all 3 times. Which was a welcome change from HP & Dell (which I only called if I was desparate) - now I know first hand why Apple Support always scores so high in surveys. They know their stuff & actually WANT to help solve your problem.

I have called 1 time to have them help me move my iPhoto & iTunes library over from my external hard drive. They were very helpful & got everything transferred :D

After numerous calls over the weekend to Applecare, the iMac is now at the repair shop. I reinstalled the OS, then did a clean install of the OS, and still wasn't able to fix the sleep problem. It is clearly something wrong with the hardware. The senior Applecare advisor I dealt with was incredible, so helpful and courteous.

I still within the original warranty time frame, since my iMac is from July. I almost never buy extended warranties because I think they are mostly scams, however, Applecare would be my one exception.

Update on the Mac repair: it needs a new processor, so the logicboard is being replaced. Should be in the shop for about a week.

I'm curious...do repairs normally need to be approved by an Applecare advisor before you can take it in get fixed? This is assuming you live in a city without a Genius Bar.
