I've yet to drop my current phone (an iPhone 17 Pro), but then again it's only six weeks old. One of the reasons I opted for the Pro over the Pro Max is that I'm a lot more butterfingered with the larger form factor.

If things like table or waist height count as drops.... um.... hundreds of times? Is that not normal for something we're handling 100s of times a day for multiple years? They're designed for this, especially if you throw on even a $10 cheapo case haven't had any damage beyond scratching a screen or chipping the camera cover glass on a Xs in over a decade (I did shatter the screen of my brand new 6s+ the second day I had it in September 2015 -- hadn't found a case for it yet)

I have a 15 Pro that has been dropped or knocked off a table well over 50 times. I have always had a relatively lightweight case on it as well as a glass screen protector. I have probably replaced the screen protector 3 times due to cracks from drops. Despite the drops, because of the case and screen, my phone still looks in immaculate condition when it is bare. With that being said, I always have a case and screen protector on it.

Lost count…

No case, and yet the 13 Mini is quite OK. Mostly just tiny cosmetic dings and scratches on the edges and corners.

The worst was when it fell on some rocks by the sea during a holiday in Sardinia and the impact shattered the screen protector. Complete spiders web.

The screen was completely OK…

I drop my 15 Pro Max (and my 12 Pro before it) on a pretty regular basis. Falls out of my shorts pocket onto hardwood, parking lot, or somewhere about once a day. Usually from waist height, sometimes chair height.

No case, no protector, no damage.

One drop from knee height, bent to tie shoe lace and phone (17PM) slipped from shirt pocket into pebbles and concrete. No case, dented my phone and scratched the screen.
Replaced to a new phone with out of warranty cost.
credit card insurance covered the cost with $50 excess.

My wife dropped my 15 Pro once. That’s it. Stickers dinged up but no other visible damage of any kind.

I keep it caseless but have a Gelaskin sticker on the back and a matte screen protector on the front.

My, 16 Pro Max, I dropped about 1 foot into the kitchen sink. Broke the FloLab screen protector but otherwise no problem, it’s in a Mous case.

But I have, what might be an interesting story, I think it was back when I had the 13. I had it (caseless) in my front pocket and went on a roller coaster. I didn’t notice until later that the phone was missing. I still remember that sinking, sickening, feeling in my stomach. We weren’t able to locate it. The next day, I called a friend who had an apple device and he logged in with my Apple ID and was able to fix the location at the lost and found at the park. I went back and picked up the completely shattered remains. Amazingly the phone still worked! I took it in to Apple when I got home for a repair, but that’s back when 2FA was new and I had activated it on the phone. To unlock it, I had to have the code displayed on…you guessed it, the shattered screen. The tech took it in the back and was able to connect it to a different screen so I could get the code and so was able to transfer to a new phone. I won’t forget that one soon, I now put my phones in a case.

I have a friend who left his phone on the bumper of his vehicle and wound up driving over it on a gravel parking surface. It was in an Otterbox Defender case…no damage.

Currently with my 16 pro max. Dropped twice from the waist height with the spigen air case on - 0 damage so far. How are you guys faring?
I'm impressed still using my XR. It's been cased without glass protection and dropped many times including once a few years ago into a clean toilet bowl before pulling it out in seconds.

I had my 17 Pro Max for just over a month and already dropped it a bunch of times at home, in the car and at the gym, lol!
Luckily I always put cases on my devices, so it doesn’t have a single scratch or dent on it.

Those people who’ve never dropped their phones are absolute legends. I could never be one of them 😂 Sometimes when I bend down to tie my shoes, I’ll randomly tuck my phone in my chest, then forget about it — and boom, it hits the floor when I stand up. I’m just a bit clumsy, haha. That’s why I have to use a case. Once again, major respect to those who can go caseless without ever dropping their phone! My phones — no matter which one — have all been dropped a few times, lol.
