I had to send in mine once, for a logic board replacement (and they replaced the battery at the same time).

As avalys said, I don't think the poll will give a true indication of the proportion of MBPs that have needed to go in for repair.

as indicated before... i agree with avalys and tinlad... yet it wouldnt hurt to pass the time with a little poll (accurate or not lol) :)

at the moment i definitely plan on getting applecare for my laptop... the student discount helps a lot for me (making the price with an added gig of ram, applecare, and iwork only $40 more than what it would originally cost me without the added specs and discount)

i bought a rev a, this time last year... it was a 1.83 core duo with 512 ram (stock) and an 80 gb...

since purchasing it went in for:
-the original logic board recall
-a new microphone
-a third logic board after the new recall'd one died on me.

then, about a month ago, the wifi was dropping in and out, there were sleep problems, and it would occasionally just not turn on...

so i took it into my campus authorized apple repair centre, they said they 'could' fix it, but i opted to phone apple, with like three weeks left on my initial one-year limited warranty, and slightly exaggerated saying that the repair centre 'recommended i call in to see about the possibility of a replacement, because there could be some heat-affected hardware issues...' after a three or four person run around over the phone, i finally got in touch with a great guy who told me 'id had enough prob's with this model, so he was sending me a new one...'

a week later i received a brand new 2.16 core 2 duo with a gig of ram and a 120 gb hard drive...

between this 'rev' and the rev a, it's like nite and day. i am very, very impressed with this computer. AND my one year limited warranty starts all over again.

My Rev A 2.0 MBP was sent in 4 times

first heat issues turns out logic board bad
then high pitch buzz, then buzz wasnt fixed sent in, then warped casing

replaced with a 2.33 c2d upgraded hd to 160 and has been running fine ever since

went through 3 macbooks two core duo 2.0 then one core 2 duo 2.0 they just replaced with a 2.16 c2d black book

I sent mine in twice. 2.16 15" core duo.
Main board replaced, battery was sent to me and the MBP was sent back again for another issue that I'm not clear on.
There's a class-action lawsuit regarding the display. I spoke to one of the attorneys very briefly and that is moving forward now.

The consumer reports survey on repairs suggests few differences between laptop manufacturers. An Apple's as good as a Dell, and Sonys have a slight edge. They all have a 15-18 percent repair rate

Apple's in a class by itself for desktops, with just 11 percent needing repairs.
