ME! I hate the more and more communist control of the so called security features.. Plus I have a program that will not work..
I cant preview any music albums on iTunes and HATE the constant selling of their 9.99 month music service..
Ok I just found the iTunes and you can preview new music. My bad..
I do have a carbon copy backup..

I am sure there is more but Im ready to bail on this garbage and downgrade.. or upgrade is it?

I tried to update but, after taking more than 90 minutes to download it,? ? I tried to put it on here but it said *Not formatted as APFS?*So perhaps i want bother with it I don,t have an iPhone or Apple TV or any TV for that mater or want oneI don,t have any watch either. Or ipad .it seems most of the updates are about the things above.
How can you format a hard drive that you are using for Mac HD?
I never had that problem before when updating to a new OS
I doubt if anyone else on here does not have one or more of the above.

I will not be upgrading my two macOS devices (21" iMac currently on High Sierra, and 13" MBA currently on Mojave) for the foreseeable future. I rely on a few 32-bit apps that have no replacements or alternatives.

If you were a regular consumer, your complaints would be valid, but you are on a MacRumors Forum. You KNEW what you were getting into and yet you upgraded anyway. YOU chose not to have a backup/restore plan. No sympathy here.

I have been very wary of updating the OS on any of my Apple Devices.

One thing that is good about the Mac though is the ability to go back to past OS versions.

I think if Apple continues to lock things down and make the MacOS more like the iOS, the ability to use older OS versions might be taken away.

I think if that happens, I might just jump ship.

Also never upgrade your OS within the first month or two...... ?
Every OS release has bugs or problems for the first couple of point updates.

True. I only recently updated to Mojave. And given the 32 bit app situation I may be there for quite a while.

I have not updated to Catalina yet (still on Mojave), but was wondering if I should. Normally I enjoy getting new systems, upgrades, etc., but considering that with Catalina we actually lose 32-bit app support and iTunes, what do we actually gain from it compared to Mojave?

I already went back to Mojave. First it took 6 or 7 times trying to get my new MacBook Pro to update. I finally had to go into recovery mode and update it to the latest version available for my machine (option-comman-R at startup). Played around with it for a while. Not much different to be honest. The new Music app didn't bother me as much as other people (as far as design updates go)... but... the way it drained all the memory on the machine very much did. I still have no idea why it drained ALL my memory. I also had a "creatively acquired" version of a 3D program that wouldn't open anymore (it was fine on Mojave). Everything else seems OK though although a few apps seemed a little funky. But the memory drain and the app I couldn't use was enough for me to say no thanks until they make a few updates.

Just did a clean installation of macOS Catalina, copied back my files and finished installing my apps. It took a while for iCloud Drive to start syncing. Everything seems to be working just fine, so nope I don't see any reason to downgrade to macOS Mojave.

After all the trouble i was having with getting Windows on the internal drive it said it could not be done?
i tried partitioning it.And and managed to get it back to one partition it would not let me do it said no internet connection i knew i had one. So what i did was do everything on the disk utility it said it could do a old OS i take it was one that my Mac originally came with so i put that on the external drive.I had previously downloaded OS Mojave and my surprise i managed to get it on my internal drive.i am glad i got back to MojaveI thought i would be stuck with that Mavericks.

As @dsemf mentioned, you can use the free version of Bbedit. Bare Bones has a handy comparison chart that shows the differences between Text Wrangler, Bbedit free mode and Bbedit paid mode.

1.Depends on your mac model, how old the OS it will support.
2.The OS will not ‘stop working’, it would be more a case of you can’t install software or hardware because the OS doesn’t support it.

the real question is, outside of this forum, how many people want to go back? 100? 1000? millions? what's always funny here (& occasionally entertaining) is how some forum participants think the apple world is defined by what's discussed here, yet... millions of people use apple products and never visit these forums.

catalina is great and imperfect, and not the same experience for everyone... just like every mac os that preceded it. and, in a year, we'll be having the same discussions about 10.16, with people going back to... 10.15.

Normally I wait it out 3-5 months before proceeding to upgrade to a new OSX. And when upgrading, I keep a cloned copy of my existing OS boot drive so I could easily revert back to the old OS version in case of problems with the new OS. It’s also best to do some research on any problems before upgrading to get to know the new OS better.

yeah i install the free. and still using vscode,phpstorm,visual studio for mac
