I'm upgrading my IUP 8+ 256 to the Max 512. I don't look forward to waking up in the middle of the night to confirm my reservation but it's tradition after all!;)

I have a 128GB 7plus, just got an AC replacement that is still in plastic. I want the XS Max. Here is my calculation:

Upgrade today: $1250 256GB XS Max + $200 for AC - $500 approx Swappa price of my mint 128GB 7plus = $950 to upgrade today.

Upgrade in a year: $1000 estimated Swappa price for a good 256GB XS Max with 10+mo of AC remaining - $300 estimated Swappa price of my good 128GB 7plus = $700 to upgrade next year.

Is ~$250 worth it to upgrade today versus waiting another year?

Most likely I'm upgrading from my 8+ 256 - I'm on the iUP plan so it's easy to do so.

I'm trying to decide if I go with the XS 512 or XS 512 MAX, the smaller form factor of the XS might be a good change for me - however the XS MAX has a much bigger battery. I'm curious if there are any other hidden differences such as RAM

On paper right now the only difference is larger display and battery.

I’m going to give my 8+ to the wife and get the Xs Max. Now trying to decide between space grey or silver. I’ve always had space grey so dunno whether to change.

It was very nice to meet Max, but I think I will stick with my plan of trying to wait out FaceID in hope Touch ID or another alternative might come up. I just don’t like the tech. I can certainly wait out another year, and that way if the 2019 models swing round with no change I guess I’ll just go passcode only.

The phone that is delayed until October is the Xr. If you're getting the Max, you don't have to wait pre-order is tomorrow. :)

Whew! I just finished doing the iUP, and couldn't imagine where I got the idea that it was the Xs that was being delayed. I guess it's cause sometimes you just can't tell the difference between all those months that end in -er. ;)

I think the Touch ID ship has sailed for good. They have already said FaceID is superior to fingerprints so there's no going back now. Personally I prefer the convenience of Touch ID on my 8+ but I guess it's time to move on.

Here is another 8 Plus user going to do the edge-to-edge-display ride now :D
Still unsure if I will get the Max or not. I fear the size of the SCREEN (the phone itself is smaller than my 8+) and the reachability of the screen's bottom to close apps while holding it one-handed

I guess I'll go with the "small" Xs...

It's extremely tempting. Yeah I got the 8+ last Sept. (Had the X briefly, but missed the large size and ended up returning it) After seeing the HANDS ON videos, it's nice.

Maybe this is for another topic. Question on Pre order, it does say "Apple Trade in" in the check out, the 8+ has a value of $400. Been reading how this works..Apple sends you a box, you mail it back. Get a Gift card or refund.

NOW....what if I preorder XS Max, skip the trade in part at check out. The phone - hopefully - arrives next Friday. Now can I then drive down to the Apple store Late Friday after I have my new phone - and turn in my 8+ there for a refund?

I've got an 8+, and I'll be upgrading to the Xs Max (such a dumb name). A lot of people I know have the X and I am always envious of their screen quality when I see their phones. To get that quality and a bigger screen in the same form factor that I have now is worth it to me. I'm on the upgrade program, so it's easy enough. Seems like I'm alone but I'm excited about this release!

If it does turn out to be the case then I’ll just keep FID off, but I want to see if there is the possibility under screen TID might make a return. Wouldn’t be the first time Apple have gone with something that’s proved popular on other platforms, and if rumours of 3D touch’s demise next year are true, we’ll that was apparently something that interferes. Quite probably unrelated, but you never know...

Upgrading my 8+ (256 GB) to the Xs Max (256 GB) on the iPhone upgrade program. I’m also upgrading my series 0 SS Apple Watch to a Series 4 aluminum model
