this is apple we're talking about; they basically do what they want, and we adapt... or not. meanwhile, after years of complaining about itunes, apple has changed things up. and that should get better over time, as it (usually) does.

Ironic since Catalina is considered worse.
Maybe considered worse by you but not by me. To me it's just another slight change in the OS. I don't know why so many people get bent out of shape about an OS. If it's stable and runs whatever programs I need then I'm happy. Vista was laggy and crashed for me. Catalina runs smoothly with no issues.

Not that much actually. All my important staff on saved on cloud. The only usage for iTunes is for backing up my iPhone

So, with all these nightmare stories about folk not being able to synch devices, not being able to restore purchases, not being able to locate playlists, not being able to organise music, or podcasts, or videos....the list is endless....on Catalina, just how much do you miss the much-maligned, much-critiqued, much-undervalued old application you all knew and, by turns, loved and despised, as “iTunes”?

I don’t miss it in the slightest, because I’m still on Mojave, happily syncing everything with a much-maligned, much-critiqued, much-undervalued, single click.

But how is it going for you folk on the big “C”, emotionally? How are you coping, psychologically? Because they say we regret the things we didn’t do more than we regret the things we did do. ‘They’ being Apple.

All thoughts and feelings are welcome here, at the ‘Why Is Life So Hard?’ Club.

I've been on Catalina since it launched.

I don't miss it at all and experience none of the problems you've described.

Ironic since Catalina is considered worse.

Worse than what? Considered by whom?

Returned my 16“ mbp, largely because I was so unhappy with Music. There was no remote.app control at the time (and, afaik, still none for podcasts) which I use a lot. Also I hated the UI changes, especially the new back button rather than albums opening inline in iTunes. My 2016 mbp has had a new lease of life after a keyboard replacement (new battery ?) and it still has iTunes ?

it‘s the first time I’ve skipped an OS upgrade for more than a week. Would quite like to try sidecar and the new reminders, but would like to know how reliable the iTunes on Catalina hacks are before I take the plunge.
