it would be interesting if people could work out exactley how much they have spent ( go to account info on itunes and past purchases and add it up)

but also interested in of the money spent, how much of that is still installed?

A have spent a little over $8 including tax... I originally stuck with all free apps but then around Christmas time my neighbor had a $25 iTunes gift card that he didn't want so I figured I would purchase a few apps! All the apps I bought, I still have and use/play every so often... I usually find out as much as I can about an app before buying and try to buy only $0.99 apps or wait for them to go on sale! I did buy Line Rider for $2.99 because one of my students had it on his phone so I got to try it and I liked it.... I could easily see how expensive it could get if one just bought every "interesting" looking app so I really try to limit myself because I know that I cannot ever actually use all of them... so I still have a little over $16 bucks left on the gift card to spend on whatever apps appeal to me enough! The only ones I ever purchased were:

Line Rider $2.99
Cro-Mag $0.99
Flick Fishing $0.99
Pocket God $0.99
Peggle $0.99
ChemTouch (Periodic Table app) $0.99

I currently have $11 worth of my $30ish still installed, one being $10 Beejive that I bought yesterday, the other being Flight Control, best game and only $1.

The question of what's still installed is a fair one... I don't keep games installed after I haven't been playing them for a while, particularly because I have an 8GB model. :( Of my games...

Rolando - did not finish, not installed (need to put it back on and finish it)
Spore - finished, uninstalled
Brothers in Arms - finished, uninstalled
Hero of Sparta - finished, uninstalled
Ferrari GT - finished, uninstalled
Castle of Magic - currently installed, currently playing
Toy Bot Diaries 1-3 - finished / uninstalled #1, #2-3 not on there now but haven't played them yet
Bobby Carrot - $7.99 - currently installed but not playing much, about 2/3 done
iDracula - currently installed, felt I got a good play out of it, don't play it much now.

I guess MacRumors people are very prudent with money.

So, what's your favorite non-game app either paid or free.

For the people who have yet to buy an app, is it because you're too cheap? Or because you're pirating the apps? I'm really curious to find out.

Not to cheap, but havent seen anything worth buying yet. Most of the games just get old after a while and no point of buying them. Only thing i would really buy is AIM but the paid version isnt good enough to get yet. Only in college right now, gotta save all the money i can!

Probably around $100. I was an idiot and bought Omnifocus even though I didn't have the desktop version, and then I bought Things for the desktop so I had to get Things for the iPhone too. And I've bought quite a few $10 games even though I never play them.... The only third party apps I ever really use are Beejive, Things, AP Mobile and Twitteriffic.

I made the 10 dollar game mistake with Super monkey Ball. Never again.

I do splurge on 99 cent games pretty often, though.

$8:

Tap Tap Revenge: Dave Matthews Band Edition ($4.99)
PapiJump Plus ($.99)

and

Cro-Mag Rally ($1.99)
