No worries - I just pointing out that prior updates were typically a lot larger. No big deal, as mentioned I don't care how large/small an update is, as long as it improves OSX :)

I DO care if this tiny update addresses only ONE (say, battery life) among many other bugs.

Let's hope Apple takes care of a lot of other issues instead of holding them for 10.8.2 or later.

People make out Vista to be far worse than it actually is. It had some issues at launch but they were quickly fixed through updates. By the time SP1 rolled around, Vista was very solid.

What's your sample size? Your home PC's? I was more talking about the poor schlubs who had to support it in corporate environments. It was a complete dog.

Next you'll be telling us that ME was Ok. :D

----------

Apple's prior delta update were gigabytes in size.

Yea? Which one? Can you link me to a delta update (preferably a .1 release) which is gigabytes in size. I'm curious as I've never seen a delta that big.

----------

Agree wholeheartedly. Vista was the worst OS ever in my opinion. It was one issue after the next and that is when I ditched Windows. ;)

You must be forgetting ME ;)

What are all these problems with mountain lion that everyone is talking about? Yes there is a little bit worse battery life but not by that much. The errors i did have only showed up once and i have never seen them since.

For example- Screen turned to a pink Hue once for some reason then i restarted and it hasn't happened again.

Also when i first installed ML safari would have some graphics issue and i have not seen those in over a week.

But other then that ML has worked perfectly, my MAC is much faster and smoother then the day i have it. All 16gb of ram works perfectly.

Please someone tell me what issues everyone is referring too!

i hope apple fixes all the issues i'v encountered, atleast at some point..

i gained 2 fixes that i had problems with in lion, for 4 new issues. (those issues i had in lion were the only 2, though others who have been using mac os since before me, have said it was not as smooth as Snow leopard, apparently mountain lion fixed that too)

old issues fixed in mountain lion:

Memory Paging out - Hardly Ever, if at all, seen it page out in ML.

LaunchPad Icons stay in their position in ML.

new issues:

Colour Profile changing with GPU switching - this problem happens sometimes, not consistent.

Lack of butter smoothness to the Mission Control and Spaces Swiping. this seems to be related ot hten ew 3D dock, as the issue/bug dissappears when reverting to the 2D dock or even turning Hiding on.

LaunchPad icons lose sharpness, its particularly noticeable for me on a high resolution screen (my monitor), the problem disappears if i switch to the 2D dock for some reason, but then as a trade off, i noticed launchpad behaves less smoothly when swiping its pages!

lastly, the most crucial problem that me and others have been having - freezing, forcing to a hard restart, also seems graphics related, and interestingly, for me, most the time happens when interacting with.. the Dock!

i almost forgot a 5th issue -

the battery, this one is inconsistent for me, half the time, i get the normal battery length, up to 7 hours easaily, this is helped with my SSD upgrade for sure.

but sometimes even with low brightness and bluetooth off, i can't get hte battery level to report lasting longer than 3hrs.

Looks like we have the same computer... I am not having any of those problem, did you do a clean install?

yeah, we appear to have the same computer,

2.2. ghz base model 15 inch MBP, normal res screen, 256gb Samsung 830 ssd drives, 16gb Ram.

i did 100% clean install. i'v never upgraded my OS, i don't even use time machine, i prefer to handle my data myself, and do things clean and tidily.

i have a couple questions for you:

have you activated or used Trim?

did you import a colour profile from your previous OS install into Mountain Lion, or recalibrate your colour profile? or even, did you leave your calibration at stock setting?

theres gotta be reason why this problem occurs for some of us.. surely it can't be bad hardware. i fully accept itt could be to do with programs i'v installed.

Apple's prior delta update were gigabytes in size. No matter how you slice it, this one appears to be a small update. Definitely focused on some specific bug fixes with no added features

Name a single 10.X.1 delta update that was gigabytes in size. No matter how you slice it, this one appears to be a small update. Just like all prior 10.X.1 updates.

Actually name a single 10.X.X delta update that was gigabytes in size.

Well i have the high res screen but that should not affect anything. I installed trim using the app "Trim Enabler" and i have not messed with the color profiles at all, they are still stock.

You can always try a time machine backup, then reinstall a fresh ML and see if that helps, if it doesn't then reload the backup.
