Sheesh, everyone thinks their opinion is more valuable than gold just because they are a self-proclaimed expert in a field.

If you were an electrical engineer, your opinion on whether or not my building is wired properly would be more valuable than mine.

Also, I did not claim to be a expert, I simple said I'm a designer. The thread specifically at many points says 'oh god, whoever designed that site is awful', and I'm saying, from my point of view, it's smart. After all we're talking about it arent we?

I think it is a great website. I mean, we have a thread about it. No press is bad press.

(I'm not a designer, but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night)

I quite like it - it's fun. I've researched bags on it before, and the crazy design isn't an issue for me, but I agree it sometimes isn't as clear as it could be. However, I've had similar trouble on many other more conservative bag sites. I remember seeing Crumpler bags years ago in shops, and they have a similar off-the-wall design on their labels and blurb, so I thought the website was quite appropriate to the company's philosophy.

At least it works - I gave up with Eastpak's website, it kept going to the wrong pages and not loading others.

Actually, I'm a designer and I think the site is great... infact I work at a rather large web design firm and I just sent that site out to our entire company the other day as inspiration. It's VERY creative and fun. For people like myself, creating your standard run of the mill, boring ass HTML experience gets to be ont he tiring side. Obviously this site is not going to win site of the year, but it was fun enough to catch my attention, and I bought a bag from them... then I passed the site on to about 300 other people, many of which who own 12-17" laptops.
What web design company do you work for? I'd be interested to know, I get a few dumb clients every now and then who I think would be better off with you.

i was never really that fond of their bags, and although the website may be "creative" it looks pretty unprofessional and childlike, which ends up making the company look kind of so as well.

on the other hand, i think Apple's website has the best look and layout of any site i've been on~

Hahahahahaaaaaaaa

Finally a website, which is different, and funny. I ask: Why not. They are not selling boats or cars...:D
The music is appropriate and funny too.
The critics should consider how forgiving they are with the imperfection of the new MB's and MBP's quality.
Be cool about something different gals and guys:p

I'm not sure if that's meant to be an insult or not (?) but I work for Critical Mass. http://www.criticalmass.com We work mostly with larger, fortune 500 types.

Again, I've got to point out, it's a cool fun site.

i think crumpler's sites are brilliant. :D

they're brave enough to be ridicolously different and it deserves kudos. gave me quite some laughs whenever i go to their site. anything that makes me laugh is good.

no no, what you want is the boring professional look. why on gods green eath would a company with personality and any sense of uniqueness represent themselves that way online? jeeeeez

No more drugs for that man!:D

But honestly, while I think the site is funny and unique I do not like the design very much either. But it is very brave for a company to do these kind of things. Being a designer too I often have to deal with clients that do not want anything out of the ordinary by any means. It would not hurt if more companies had the courage to present themselves a little extravagant.

I wouldn't mind having more pictures of their bags on the site though - inside and out. Crumpler doesn't need 'professional' site. their product reflects their quality. I have 2 crumpler products so far - they're rock solid. :)

That's great to hear, as I said originally, I just bought their Beer Back bag for my 17" MBP. I saw one of the bags for a 15" in a store here and it looked like an awesome bag. Looking forward to getting mine!

It may not technically be the best site on Earth.
But it is a fun site - its entertaining.
I thought the site was cool, certainly not outstanding, but they sell bags - what do you want from them?

The site might not be everybodies cup of tea - fair enough.
But thier products speak for themselves.
I have a crumpler backpack and sleeve - and they are awesome.
I did a lot of research (surfing) to find the right protection for my pbook, the site didn't turn me off buying thier product - which is the most important thing at the end of the day.

Opinions are like ________

Everyone's got one.

From a coding perspective, as long as the source code is clean, loads correctly and makes sense, that's all that really counts to me.

My big pet peeve is having a site that is difficult to navigate, and difficult to find the information you need. If a website is put together in such a fashion that finding what you need is a breeze, that's a good website to me.

EDIT: Looked at the site, I think that's one of the most interesting online shopping sites I've ever seen. Definetly disagree with the OP

I generally like the site too. I think they do try a little too hard.. like, I enjoy it, but I think they could have changed things to make the navigation make more sense and ultimately still be crazy, but way more fun.

Anyhoo, threads like this prove that the site is doing it's job. I've never seen it before. If I hadn't already purchased a bag, I'd consider getting one from them.

So, as they say. There's no such thing as bad publicity :p
