I don't believe this. Mine scratched to rat **** in only a couple of months. The glass scratches so easily. My iPhone camera died and received a replacement. Since then I have kept a screen protector on it. I replace it every 3 months.

Believe it!. Most people take reasonable care of their stuff...others abuse it and then bi**h about the poor quality of a product.

A year

I had mine on there for a year, and was wondering why I even had it, as it looked fine.

Then, one day, I somehow gouged the screen protector - like a major rip. I was really happy that I had it on there. I took off the protector and was happily surprised that it didn't actually go all the way through the protector... so, I put a new one on. I find it doesn't detract from usage at all, so why not have the insurance?

cool thing about the shields is that they don't get smudges on them. But yeah they do scratch pretty easy though.

Yeah those at the Apple store are just ridiculously overpriced.

I'm begginning to see the positives in screen shields. If you are likely to drop it, or have it in your pocket next to your keys, and consequently get scratches on it, the. I guess it is good to have a protecter as insurance. However, I take the risk, simply because I can stand the micro-scratches that screen protecters get.

Before you go out and buy another screen shield, why don you just try one week of nothing on the screen. I guarantee you that unless you're heaps rough with it, it won't get any scratches.

That's what I basically did, I gave my new touch a trial period with no screen shield, over a month later and my screen is still as scratch-free as the day I got it.

well, some people here are saying that it scratches , some people are saying ti does. Well, while i don't think that glass scratches, i think having one on it is just a good measure. And it doesn't affect sensitivity either. I am going to keep on using screen shields till either the ipod touch gets at least a gorilla glass screen or better yet, when diamond becomes dirt cheap due to synthetic fabrication processes.

I'm gonna go +1 on the no protector here. Got my 2nd gen when they came out and never put one on...no need, the screen is tough and actually easier to clean without it (my opinion).

I usually like to change my screen protector on my iPod touch 2G every 10-12 months. It usually can last about a year, but I just like to get a fresh one on. Another way to tell if you need a new one is if there are A LOT of scratches on the screen.

It's true that glass isn't going to scratch under many/most circumstances, but it it is also true that it is not, by far, completely scratch-proof. I have seen and USED other people's iPhones and iPod Touches that have permanent scratches on the glass.

So I use a screen protector. (Actually, like I said before, I now use a full-body shield these days.)

Also, I don't know where the misconception originated that the original iPod Touch didn't have glass of the same "hardness" and is more prone to scratching. BS. The only thing different between iPhone 3GS and the others is the fingerprint-and-smudge-resistant "oleophobic" coating on the glass, which according to some people actually makes the screen more susceptible to developing scratch marks on it, because the coating itself can scratch/wear off (which still shows up as a visible mark) even if the glass underneath it is intact. I don't know how true this is, myself.

never and my screen is perfect after 2 years usage, you can guess what I think of all the people wasting their money on them

I have tried a bunch of different screen protectors and found the iFrogz to perform the best and they don't scuff and scratch easily.
