In May of 2023, very reluctantly, by my wife’s request, I took on the task of replacing her 13” 2013 mbp retina with a claimed weakening battery. Within 3-4 days I secured not one, but two identical 14” MBPs M2Max 32/1TB, new and sealed, on FB marketplace @$2100.- each, no tax. But then I realized that I had to replaced two HP printers I was perfectly happy with (No driver). The 10 year gap from our two 2013 mbp retinas required some adjustments, now with usb-c, a FW G-raid, and a stupid dongle for the Thunderbolt Display. And just today I made a mistake of reading (here) how to install in the 13 retina a 4TB SSD for almost a song. Crap! Also, the better mechanical qualities of the 2013 vs 2023 did not escape my attention…

I jumped from a 2018 15” MBP to a 14” M1 Pro in 2021 after only 18 months because I was sick of an overheating/thermally compromised computer.

The only reason I’d upgrade right now is for more RAM, but a discounted M1 or M2 Max seems more enticing right now than an M3…
