How quickly should we see 3.0 hacked?

Even though the betas of 3.0 were jailbroken, most of the "good stuff" doesn't work in 3.0. So even when GM is jailbroken, you'll still have to wait for the devs to update their stuff to work. Since most of the handy apps rely on MobileSubstrate, you'll have to wait for that to be updated for 3.0. Otherwise a jailbroken 3.0 phone is practically useless.

And since the 3G jailbreak is hardware related, I'm guessing it'll be quite some time before the 3G S is jailbroken. You can damn well bet Apple plugged that hardware hole.
 
Ill wait for the official 3.0 release to be hacked. I dont want a beta version and wont get the 3.0 till then. I am ok with having the 2.2 for now. I didnt upgrade to 2.2.1 because there isnt much difference and i dont want to lose all my jailbroken apps i have.

Hope i wont lose them when i do get 3.0 but at least it will be a big upgrade over 2.2.1

I totally agree with you on this. Dev-Team bragged about how the first two generations of iphones would always be able to be jailbroken because its a hardware issue that needs to be plugged.

Im almost positive that they have plugged the hole on the 3gs... Watch how many people that purchased the 3GS post them on ebay within weeks of purchase.
Happened last year with the 3G. I expect the same thing when 3GS is found utterly useless and permanently bricked when trying to jailbreak/unlock.

I have a friend that is home on leave from the navy that says its best to stick with the 3G and not to upgrade. Which I plan on doing for now. If I do get the new one it will be a Dev. Device for designing on the new hardware

That's why I said "comments". Because it was the the comments section of the post. See how that works? If you read before you reply with a smart ass responce, this wouldn't happen.
 
According to the dev team twitter page:

That means that the iPhone 3G has been Unlocked and 3.0 Jailbroken. 3Gs is still unknown, though. Either way, the new pwnage is probably going to be coming out fairly soon after the release! :D
