WIX 42788 air filter. I wanted a tall filter to maximize filter area and reduce resistance. Plus orange so it looks like a prop from Gerry Anderson's 1970's UFO series. In normal use there's no impact on temperature or fan speed, I need to do some performance tests.

Some people are more easily embarrassed than others I suppose? I only have a small concern that if Apple ever sees this they'll make me give it back.
There is nothing to be embarrassed about it. In fact, it should Apple being embarrassed for allowing a computer design that has the fresh air intake in close proximity with the shelf or desk's top it sits on...all done in an effort to reduce construction costs. The same can be said for not having a microphone port at the front of the Mac. It is left to the the consumer having to buy a stand, perhaps a USB microphone, and who knows what else 😇

Isn't the exhaust/heat through the back panel on the Mac Studio? Assuming good air flow, the bottom filter should not bother the exhaust at all.
What I would do is to monitor differences of cooling fan speeds, without placing the Studio on the filter versus placing it on the filter. If the differences in fan speeds aren't drastic, then I would not worry about. But in reality, automobile engine air filters are designed to resist air movement to a certain extend.

For example, my preference would be a nylon mesh material like the one used in the following link. More than likely I would buy a filter like that, and trim strips of this mesh and then glue (or Velcro) the pieces of mesh to the walls interior of the Spigen stand (to filter the air going from outside into the stand):

In normal use I see no difference in fan speed. I do have similar concerns about the filter material which is why I went with the largest possible filter area for less resistance. And I need to test it under more demanding conditions. I'd much rather be using something more like furnace filter material. This just happened to come in a convenient shape!

Same with me but I have my filter stand on 1/3rd inch risers to allow more airflow going into the filter.

that's one "IDGAF HOW IT LOOKS JUST KEEP MY MAC HEALTHY AND CLEAN" and I love it :) your Mac sure loves you for it... I put mine on a stand for now, so it's up on the air .. which helps A BIT, I would say about 30-40% than keeping it straight on the desk. But with a filter like that 95% of the dust is kept away im sure heh
