How to clean the new glossy iMacs?

Buy a carton of Windex. You'll need a lot for that glossy screen.

Does anyone know if there is a difference between the iKlear and the Klear Screen products? How about their "kits designed specifically for Dell users"??
I have a bottle of "Klear Screen" that I've used on my TiBook, and it works beautifully. Do you think I can use this on my 24" iMac? is it really fundamentally different from the iKlear products, or just packaging?

Can't you use a smidgen of soap with the water? If it's streaking, then you got some greasy ick on it that won't come off easily with water alone.

They have products specifically for Dells, Apples, etc.. Is this just some marketing gimmick or is that actually some difference in the formulation?
I'll probably get flamed for this, but I use Kiwi Glass Cleaner.
I spray a little of it onto a damp glass cloth (a kind of microfiber cloth for cleaning glass, not tea towels you use for drying glassware). The combination of the two, leaves my iMac streak free and clean. And undamaged.
I honestly don't think there's anything wrong with using certain glass cleaners, unless you're spraying it directly onto your screen, as the liquid may seep through under the glass. I'm no expert, but if it says it's suitable for use on monitors, and TVs, why's the iMac's glass so precious?
But if you are concerned about it, then use 'safer' alternatives.

Hmm, unless Apple and Dell use a specific type screens that require a specific version of klearscreen I'd say it was just a marketing ploy to get you to buy the whole package.
This will probably sound strange... but here is how I keep mine pristine clean:
When the machine is cool, I use a very soft t-shirt (cotton) and my breath... just fog a section of the screen and buff like you buff wax on a car. It is spotless this way, been cleaning my screens in this way for ever... And it's free.

Same difference... you're using condensation from your breath, which is mostly water.

Maybe I'm missing something, but the new screens are glass. Why exactly would a glass cleaner be harmful?
Correct, I just tend to follow the manufacturer's recommendation and Apple specifically says not to use ANY ammonia based cleaners on the new iMac screens.
Agreed...they said that for either two reasons:
1) they tried it and the results were ugly
2) they don't want white iMac users to read an article from apple saying "clean with windex" thinking it was fine when in fact they were looking at the wrong article.

Distilled Water
Just a little bit of distilled water works perfectly. If you have an empty spray bottle, just fill it with store bought distilled water and spray a clean lint-free cloth. Perfection

Ok I am slightly confused now, I have the older white 24 inch iMac, what exactly should I be cleaning the screen with. Are the screen wipes you get in computer stores not ok? All that iKlear stuff is in dollars, so not really very viable option I imagine for living in the UK?
yeah the normal tft cleaning wipes will work just fine I think...I use them on my MB all the time and can't complain.
iKlear is totally overpriced here in Europe in my opinion.
