How to connect iChat to a modern server

Hi,
I've seen lots of people get iChat working again by using different servers. No one has said how to get iChat to connect to these servers (only on other apps like Psi). Does anyone know how to get iChat to actually connect to one of these servers?

Hello! Hope i'm not late on this. Chivanet (chivanet.org) offers an AIM server you can connect to! I tried NINA, but it doesn't seem to connect, and Chivanet only works on iChat for some reason? Adium doesnt like it. You can also log in with your facebook account using the jabber method, i've heard!
