Woo! Thanks for the find guys!

UPS are coming to pick up my iPod on Friday, and then there will be 10-14 days before I get one back (hopefully brand new) so i don't know which firmware version it will have.

Thanks so much for this!

Is there anyone out there kind enough to explain to me why should we downgrade it to 1.1.1 again ?! If you don't like the 1.1.3, don't upgrade it. Why waste $20 just to get back to 1.1.1 ?!

Clean it and restore?

Don't need iPhuc right? I haven't tried it but I think it can work... the clean hardware restore.

Here's the key sequence:
Turn on ipod --> Press and hold Home+Sleep (for very long) --> iPod goes to sleep --> Keep holding Home+Sleep --> iPod Wakes up again --> bang... The screen that ask you to plugin your ipod to itunes.

Now, whatever firmware you want to restore is entirely up to you, I remember that's how I clean up everything to restart any jailbreak failure.

the problem is that your method doesn't work under 1.1.3.. hence the clever yet slightly more complicated method above.

Hehe... why would we be going through all this trouble if it worked exactly the same as the previous downgrades... hahahaha!

Ha, eureka! My iPod is right now being "upgraded" to 1.1.1. Ahh, now I have to spend an hour though getting it back to what it was before 1.1.3.

What would we do without these people creating these programs to make our iPod touches/iPhones a lot better?:):apple:

This works -- didn't work the first time but second time it worked like a charm :)

I did it over Parallels with XP -- dont try using crossover, it wont work.

EDIT: Installed the installer -- reverted back and jailbroken -- time taken: 45 minutes!

1.1.1

Can someone please tell me a way to download the 1.1.1 restore, without it not showing up on my computer after its done downloading, the default says to open with iTunes, but I still never see it, and when i save it to the disk i have no idea where it goes

Just a note, if downgrading with a Mac the command in iTunes isn't Shift+Restore, its Option (alt)+Restore

This worked fine for me. I'm back on 1.1.1 with all the mods installed :D

Can someone explain the Mac instructions a bit better? They aren't very clear since I've basically never used Terminal.

(Also is the Mac method valid?)

i am using the mac downgrade (from the 2nd post) i can/t get any of the commands to work. anybody else have this problem?

:c

with "iTunes 7.6", can I upgrade to 1.1.2 from 1.1.1?

Following #7 instructions in this thread, I could downgrade my iPod touch from 1.1.3 to 1.1.1 successfully.

Then I installed installer and OktoPrep onto my 1.1.1 iPod, successfully.

But, I encountered a problem after upgraded 1.1.2,
using iTunes 7.6 with opt key + botton and "iPod1,1_1.1.2_3B48b_Restore.ipsw" file.

Installer vanished form my iPod 1.1.2. So, "jailbreak.jar" could do nothing.

Is there any success story using iTunes 7.6 ?

self-solved: Downgrade to 1.1.1 & 1.1.2 from 1.1.3 FW with iTunes 7.6 on Mac

Following #7 instructions in this thread, I could downgrade my iPod touch from 1.1.3 to 1.1.1 successfully.

Then I installed installer and OktoPrep onto my 1.1.1 iPod, successfully.

FYI, Make sure you are UPDATING and NOT Restoring.. Update to 1.1.3, Restore to 1.1.1, UPDATE to 1.1.2.

It helped me.

When upgrade 1.1.2 from 1.1.1, have to press 'update botton' with opt-key, instead of 'recovery'.
Then assign 1.1.2 fw. ("iPod1,1_1.1.2_3B48b_Restore.ipsw" file is found in /Users/YOURHOME/Library/iTunes/iPod\ Software\ Updates.)

Finally, I could run jailbreak.jar. :D
