You shouldn't need to pair them. Just make sure bluetooth is turned on and you are logged into iCloud on both devices. They should recognize eachother. Took me a bit of tinkering to get it work the first time though.
My MBP late 2011 sees my iPhone 5 and wants to pair with it. When I allow it, it will show connected for a few moments on the MBP, and then disconnects telling me (on my iPhone 5) the MBP 2011 is not supported.
Am I doing something wrong, or is my MBP not supported due to age? I just realized, that I still have iOS 7 on my phone. Maybe that is why. Duh.
Are you supposed to actually pair your Mac to your iPhone with bluetooth first? I'm trying to do it and my 2013 MBA refused to connect to my iPhone 5. Have no idea how to get this feature running.
